Reports to: Quality Assurance Manager

Status non-exempt

Wages: Hourly

Work Week: Full-time

General Description Summary

The Quality Control Technician is responsible for performing inspections, testing, and evaluations to ensure product quality throughout the manufacturing process. This role supports the production of Phos-Chek® Long-Term Fire Retardants and Foams at the Rancho Cucamonga facility. As part of an emergency–response–driven business, the Quality Control Technician plays a critical role in maintaining compliance, consistency, and product integrity during periods of high demand, including during fire season. The technician ensures all products meet established specifications prior to release and shipment, applying strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards in accordance with Perimeter Solutions’ EH&S policies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include (not in any priority):

  • Maintain a safe working environment (and ensure personal safe working practices).
  • Compliance with all employee job safety requirements and regulations required by company policies.
  • Inform the Quality Manager of any Quality issues or processes that become non-compliant with the specified requirement and collaborate with the Q&C Coordinator to address and resolve these issues.
  • Maintain the Quarantine log, including updating the inventory of NCP products.
  • Ensure all production and quality documents are completed accurately, up-to-date, and document controlled.
  • Perform routine and non-routine quality testing on batch-manufactured fire-retardant products.
  • Verify raw materials, in-process samples, and finished goods meet established specifications.
  • Ensure all testing is conducted according to approved procedures, test methods, and safety requirements
  • Identify out-of-specification (OOS) or nonconforming product(s).
  • Place affected batches or raw materials on quality hold and clearly label and document status.
  • Immediately notify production and quality leadership of quality issues or deviations.
  • Assist with investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions related to quality failures.
  • Collect, label, store, and maintain retain samples for each production batch in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure retain samples are properly logged, stored under appropriate conditions, and disposed of per retention schedules.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to ensure a clear understanding of quality requirements.
  • Support Quality Control operations during periods of high demand, especially when multiple production shifts are running.
  • Performs other Quality Assurance-related job functions assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.
  • Other duties may apply as required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Work in a production area with fast-moving equipment, moderate to high noise levels, and temperature changes.
  • Perform repetitive lifting, bending, grasping, reaching, pulling, climbing, and working at the computer.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • This position will be working in a manufacturing site atmosphere and must be able to stand for long, extended periods when needed.
  • Extended work periods are to be expected during period-end closing & fire season
Requirements:

Required Qualification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to stay organized with excellent organizational skills, a high degree of initiative, a sense of urgency, and flexibility. Must be able to work independently and be assertive when necessary.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position at a minimum.
  • 2 years of experience in quality control, process writing, inspection, or a related role is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and make quality-based decisions, including placing product on hold.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Basic understanding of laboratory testing methods and quality systems.
  • Good analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Requires operational knowledge of computer literacy and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Be willing to work overtime when needed.
