Title: Operations Maintenance Technician

Reports To: Director of Operations

Exempt Status: Non-Exempt

Qualifications: High School dipoma required, Trade School or College degree preferred. Two (2) years of experience in maintenance position preferred; excellent verbal communication skills; impeccable organization and management skills. Job Description: This full time position is responsible for the overall maintenance, security and daily operations of the physical plant and grounds of MPCS, which include 7 buildings.

Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to continuously stand or walk.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of facility and equipment repair and maintenance activities within areas of trade expertise (e.g., electrical, heating/air conditioning, carpentry, plumbing, heating, roof and rain gutters, concrete, drywall, stucco, painting) for the purpose of ensuring that facilities and equipment are maintained in a safe and effective working order.
  • Plans and coordinates with outside contracting firms for the purpose of completing work orders/projects efficiently.
  • Perform a variety of tasks that require the ability to inspect, repair, fabricate, install, service and maintain building facilities and building equipment.
  • Perform a variety of carpentry duties, including but not limited to, new construction, remodel, fabrication and repairs/replacement of doors, walls, signs, desks, counters, shelves and tables.o Perform window glazing and screen repairs.
  • Perform a variety of interior masonry duties including installation of ceramic tile, grout and patch repairs.
  • Perform new installation and repairs of various floor coverings, including but not limited to, VCT, carpet tiles and cove base.o Perform a variety of plumbing repairs/maintenance, including but not limited to, restroom commode and sink fixtures, drinking fountains, snaking drain lines and rerouting of plumbing.
  • Perform annual checks of all backflow prevention assembly devices within all buildings.o Perform maintenance of sewage pumps and measurements of sewage sludge.
  • Perform a broad spectrum of hardware repairs and installations.
  • Train and assist in the locksmith duties, including maintaining and installing door closers, kick plates, hinges, locks and cylinders. Repairs, rekeys and replaces locks as needed for security.
  • Refinish and make repairs to furniture, tables and chairs.
  • Follow specific operations and maintenance guidelines for site specific equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches and diagrams.o Deliver materials, equipment and supplies to facilities.
  • Move furniture, equipment and materials within and between facilities.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Operate a variety of vehicles, including pick-up truck, scissor lift.
  • Safely work from ladders, scaffolding and riggings.
  • Keep tools and equipment in good operating condition.
  • Prepare daily reports on work completed and materials used.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Set up and take down facility seating arrangements for various on campus functions.
  • Ability to perform work indoors and outdoors.
  • Considerable physical effort of hands and arms required; the employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects with considerable weight.
  • May be required to return to work when major problems are encountered on and off-shifts.
  • Coordinate all maintenance and facility utilization requests to ensure maximum utilization of facilities.
  • Ensure that facilities are in compliance with OSHA Code of Federal Regulations.o Coordinate with contractors to ensure grounds and facilities are maintained at the highest standards.
  • Scheduling, assisting, with monthly fire, bomb, tornado and safety drills.
  • Assisting with compliance of all fire codes while accompanying fire marshal and insurance inspectors during inspections to ensure compliance with governing directive, correcting violations and preparing responses.
  • Assist with safety inspections that are required by school insurance company concerning athletic program, after school program, playground equipment and facilities.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.o Compliance with the MPCS Employee Handbook.
  • Model Christian behavior at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
