About the role
Reports to the Social Development Director. Responsible for Center management during evening hours, weekends and holidays. Provides students with a safe, structured, and comfortable living environment that fosters student retention, satisfaction, achievement, and social development. Demonstrates on-going commitment to preparing young people for the workforce by modeling, mentoring, and monitoring excellence in the eight Career Success Standards of: workplace relations and ethics; information management; communications; multicultural awareness; personal growth and development; career and personal planning; interpersonal skills and independent living.
What you'll do
• Provide high-quality supervision and management of student population, taking swift and appropriate action to resolve incidents and positively influence student and staff behavior.
• Oversees the daily management of social development programs and uses proper judgment and discretion to resolve student and staff issues and problems.
• Provide students with quality and structured activities during non-training day hours, including leadership, student government, recreation, extended training day, and other special evening programs.
• Oversee and manage behavior management system of Center during non-training day hours to ensure safety of staff and students.
• Ensures strict confidentiality of sensitive information and integrity of student data.
• Coordinate staff coverage to ensure adequate supervision for student population in all areas.
• Ensure Social Development staff adhere to rest and meal break requirements.
• Ensure assigned program areas and systems meet or exceed current DOL/Company performance standards.
• Manages non-class hour’s residential living environment and ensures quality recreational and evening programming to enhance students independent living and employability skills.
• Provide cross-training to direct report(s) to provide adequate back-up coverage.
• Recommend and implement department and personnel changes as approved by the Social Development Director and coordinated with the Center Director and Human Resources prior to implementation.
• Exchange ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contribute meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge.
• Provide input in development of departmental budget. Monitor and control expenditures.
• Review and recommend changes to departmental budget authorizations.
• Assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures for department and provide input for policies and procedures for co-dependent areas.
• Review and audit all assigned areas regularly for contractual compliance and effectiveness of delivery of services to students.
• Ensure all reports and required plans are submitted in a timely, accurate manner.
• Foster a smoothly functioning, efficient department through timely and effective resolution of disruptions.
• Operate in accordance with requirements set in the contract, PRH, guides, Standard Operating Procedures, and corporate policies.
• Complete all required training according to Job Corps and Company training schedule.
• Advise and support students as a mentor and role model in the achievement of their learning and career goals.
• Contribute to cultivation of positive Center culture which is free of harassment, discrimination, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
• Promote 6 C’s of Positive Youth Development by treating students respectfully as adults and developing positive student relationships.
• Promote development of Career Success Standards by modeling expected behaviors, mentoring students and fellow staff to aid in their growth, and monitoring student behavior for accountability and recognition.
• Provide quality customer service to students, staff, and other Center customers.
• Participate in student employability programs and activities.
• Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps Zero Tolerance Policy.
• Maintain a safe and clean work area, adhering to all safety guidelines.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Associate of Arts degree and or equivalent combination of 5 years of education and experience.
• Prefer bachelor’s degree and Job Corps experience.
• Two years of experience in dormitory management or work-related field working with at- risk youth.
• Able to complete all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.
• Valid driver’s license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record.
The pay range for this role is:
51,000 - 60,000 USD per year(St. Louis JCC Main)
