The Middle Network Engineer is an essential member of the Infrastructure Support Team, responsible for maintaining and optimizing the network infrastructure that supports the Security Operations Center (SOC) and its capabilities. This role involves designing, implementing, and managing network solutions to ensure high availability, security, and performance. The Senior Network Engineer will collaborate with system administrators and ISSOs to uphold the Authority to Operate (ATO) for SOC applications and systems while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
Key Responsibilities: Design, implement, and manage secure and efficient network solutions tailored for SOC operations. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal functionality and reliability. Administer network hardware, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs. Collaborate with team members on identity management and security accreditation processes. Maintain compliance with NIST 800 series publications and the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA). Support and enhance virtualization environments, particularly with VMWare vSphere 7. Document network configurations, procedures, and policies for reference and compliance. Evaluate, document, and manage NIST 800-53 control implementations specific to network infrastructure. Work with GRC tools such as RiskVision, Xacta, and JCAM to ensure regulatory compliance.
Unique Skills/Tasks/Software: Required: Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Active Directory. Required: Strong understanding of NIST 800 series publications and FISMA compliance. Preferred: Experience with VMWare vSphere 7. Preferred: Extensive knowledge of Cisco Networking concepts and hardware. Preferred: Experience with Dell servers and SAN storage hardware. Familiarity with system accreditation, authorization processes, and FBIs ATO processes. Experience in evaluating and managing NIST 800-53 security controls.
Preferred Certifications: Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate VMware Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum 3 years of experience in network engineering or administration with a focus on security. Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
