About This Position

G & W Products is a leader in contract metal manufacturing and fabrication. Founded in 1968, our areas of expertise include metal stamping, laser cutting, fabrication, manual and robotic welding, tool and die work, powder coating and assembly. Our modern facilities include 190,000 square feet of manufacturing space between three facilities located in Fairfield, OH. We specialize in numerous industries including construction, transportation, energy, and defense. We have created a new opening for a Powder Coat Specialist position.

This position is responsible for effectively preparing and painting surfaces for powder coat adhesion to meet rigorous quality requirements. Routine maintenance of equipment, strict adherence to safety and SOP protocols are critical to avoiding defects and achieving a resilient, superior-quality finish.

What do I need to bring?

  • Prior knowledge and experience with powder coat processes a must
  • Knowledge to configure and operate powder coat equipment—including spray guns and booths—in accordance with established protocols.
  • Industry certification and experience in quality control and inspection processes are highly valued.
  • Mechanical aptitude and equipment knowledge for production setup and troubleshooting
  • Knowledge hanging parts and developing techniques to achieve proper coating standards to maximize line efficiency.
  • Familiarity with performing hatch, impact and mil thickness tests.
  • Paint booth filtration and cleaning system knowledge for color changes.
  • Must have basic knowledge of measuring tools, i.e., tape measures and calipers.
  • Prior Forklift certification a plus
  • Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for meeting all Powder Coat production goals.
  • Process parts through the Plex (ERP) software and dispatch list, while maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Operate and test chemical levels in wash system.
  • Understand the required packaging requirements for each part.
  • Ensure effective communication between shifts.
  • Training and onboard new hires.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance. Adhere strictly to safety procedures and good housekeeping processes.
  • Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to withstand extended exposure to heat.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of business needs daily including being able to lift, carry, push & pull up to 50 lbs. multiple times per day.
  • Experience operating forklifts, cranes, and Material-handling equipment is desirable
