Description:

About the Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Continuous Improvement Engineer (Manufacturing) to drive process efficiency, reduce product and production costs, and improve overall manufacturing performance. This role is hands‑on in the plant and ideal for someone with strong mechanical engineering and manufacturing process experience. Also someone who enjoys improving how things are built, solving manufacturing problems, and making a measurable impact on production performance. You’ll have the opportunity to work across multiple product lines, collaborate with engineering and operations, and help shape the future of our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze manufacturing processes and product designs to identify cost‑saving and efficiency opportunities.
  • Implement Lean improvements using PFMEA, DFMEA, VSM, standard work, and visual factory tools.
  • Lead DFM/DFA improvements across product lines and support VA/VE initiatives.
  • Work with sheet metal fabrication, stamping, welding, machining, and electro‑mechanical assemblies.
  • Improve cycle times, throughput, setup times, and labor utilization.
  • Redesign workflows, plant layouts, and process flows to eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Quantify savings and performance gains from engineering changes.
  • Train employees on updated processes and improved designs.
  • Spend substantial time on the production floor identifying issues and driving CI initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels to gain buy‑in for improvements.
  • First 60 days: spend ~75% of time learning products, processes, and equipment on the floor.
  • Work cross‑functionally with NPD, Manufacturing Engineering, Programming, and other teams.
  • Monitor overhead and assist with cost tracking, including basic financial review and itemized breakdowns.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 2–3 years of engineering experience OR
  • Associate degree in Mechanical Design Technology and 5–7 years of engineering experience
  • Experience with Lean methodologies (5S, VSM, TPM, Standard Work, Visual Management).
  • Hands‑on experience with manufacturing processes: sheet metal fabrication, stamping, welding, machining.
  • Solid modeling experience (Creo/ProE preferred).
  • ERP system familiarity and structured BOM entry.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel.

Preferred

  • Lean or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
  • Structural analysis or FEA experience.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects under time constraints.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to work across departments.
  • Customer‑focused mindset with a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to lead change and influence others in a manufacturing environment.

Working Conditions

  • Office and plant‑floor environment with exposure to loud noise.
  • Occasional standing, lifting, and frequent communication with others.
  • Domestic travel up to 10%.
