About This Position
-
Serves as the Privacy Officer for SHS, supporting the Compliance Department and leading the operation of the organization’s Privacy and HIPAA compliance program. Oversees the development and implementation of privacy policies, procedures, and standards; conducts audits and risk assessments; investigates privacy incidents; supports corrective actions; and delivers education and training. Partners with SHS workforce members to ensure timely, compliant resolution of privacy issues. Provides subject-matter expertise and guidance in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures in accordance with applicable privacy laws and regulations, including HIPAA, Title 42 Part 2, and state privacy requirements. Collaborates closely with the VP of Compliance to maintain, direct, and coordinate SHS-wide efforts to ensure compliance with healthcare laws, regulations, standards, and internal policies. Works in close partnership with the Information Security Officer to support compliance with the HIPAA Security Rule. Actively participates in the auditing and monitoring of privacy-related access and other business processes to ensure adherence to privacy and security requirements.

Provides oversight and direction for compliance with applicable federal/state rules and regulations and internal policies and procedures. This department is responsible for all lines of business in all service locations.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
-
Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field or equivalent experience required.
-
Certification in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CPHC) or equivalent required. Certification in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) preferred.
-
Four (4) years of experience in healthcare privacy audit, compliance, and/or operations required.
-
Two (2) years leadership experience in a healthcare setting required.

Experience and/or training in the following preferred:

Project management and implementation.

Program development, including performance improvement, staff education and policy and procedure development.
