SWJ Technologie specializes in providing engineering, planning, and project management services across various industries. We are currently seeking a CAD & Document Support – Engineering for an assigned project with a client in the automotive industry. The role is based in Novi, MI or Charlotte NC and requires onsite presence and 20% domestics travel. PURPOSE:
The CAD & Document Support role ensures the accuracy, consistency, and traceability of engineering design data across CAD models, drawings, and documentation systems. It involves reviewing CAD data, identifying clashes or issues, and managing revisions and updates in line with engineering changes. In addition, the role maintains document workflows in PLM/ERP systems, ensuring all technical documentation is correctly stored, controlled, and up to date. Acting as a link between engineering, operations, and manufacturing, the role ensures reliable design data, effective change management, and smooth downstream execution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Review CAD models for accuracy, completeness, standards compliance, and clash/interference detection
  • Identify and resolve design, clearance, and packaging issues in coordination with engineering
  • Manage CAD updates, revisions, and implementation of engineering changes
  • Update 2D drawings (geometry, GD&T, tolerances, materials, manufacturing requirements)
  • Ensure correct version control and CAD data storage in PLM/CAD systems
  • Maintain CAD architecture, naming conventions, and configuration standards
  • Manage document control workflows in PLM/ERP systems (upload, approval, distribution)
  • Verify metadata, revision status, and compliance with document control processes
  • Ensure drawings meet internal and industry standards (ISO/ASME, GD&T)
  • Maintain drawing quality, templates, title blocks, and corporate CAD standards
  • Support engineering, manufacturing, and prototype teams with accurate design data
  • Communicate CAD/document changes and their impact to stakeholders
  • Support audits through accurate, traceable, and compliant documentation
  • Assist with onboarding and cross-functional CAD/documentation support

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Alternatively, technical vocational training (e.g., CAD design / drafting) with relevant CAD and PLM experience
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, CAD systems, and manufacturing principles

REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • CAD proficiency (e.g., CATIA, NX, CREO, SolidWorks) and 3D modeling expertise
  • Strong understanding of 2D drawing standards, GD&T, and ISO/ASME requirements
  • Experience in CAD review, model validation, and clash/interference detection
  • Knowledge of engineering change management and revision control processes
  • Ability to update CAD models and technical drawings based on engineering inputs
  • Experience with PLM/ERP and document control systems (upload, workflow, metadata management)
  • Strong understanding of configuration management, naming conventions, and CAD architecture standards
  • Ability to ensure data accuracy, traceability, and compliance across engineering documentation
  • Experience supporting packaging checks and design integration across assemblies
  • Strong attention to detail and high focus on quality and standards compliance
  • Good understanding of manufacturing requirements and engineering documentation flow
  • Strong communication and coordination skills in cross-functional environments
  • Ability to support audits and ensure documentation readiness and traceability
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of expertise.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Experience with Volkswagen
  • Willingness to travel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.

FLSA STATUS/WORKING SCHEDULE:
  • Location: Novi, MI or Charlotte NC
  • Schedule: Full Time/ 40 hours per week
  • Travel: 20% domestics travel
  • Overtime: as required
  • Assignment Start: ca. June 2026 – December 2030
  • Duration: up to 4.5 years
