Position Overview
The Portfolio Manager oversees a portfolio of factoring clients to ensure strong credit quality, healthy portfolio performance, and exceptional customer service. This role is responsible for managing daily risk, monitoring client activity, analyzing financial and credit data, and ensuring compliance with company policies. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and skilled at building strong client relationships while protecting the company’s capital.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Management & Risk Oversight
Manage the portfolio management team and portfolio of factoring clients, ensuring appropriate risk levels and adherence to credit limits.Monitor debtor creditworthiness, aging reports, concentration risk, and client financial health.Review and approve funding requests within assigned credit authority.Identify early warning signs of credit deterioration and take preemptive action.Ensure collateral compliance, proper documentation, and adherence to factoring agreements.Client Relationship Management
Ensure timely responses to client requests across the team and manage an escalation process to address and resolve issues promptly. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients while promoting responsible financial management.Guide clients on invoice submission, dispute resolution, and best practices.Direct involvement with larger clients and clients in workoutOperational & Financial Analysis
Training
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with underwriting, operations, collections, and sales teams to support portfolio quality.Coordinate with legal and compliance teams on contract issues or risk events.Assist in onboarding new clients and transitioning accounts into active portfolios.Participate as a member of the Credit Committee to evaluate and make decisions on prospective client credit opportunities.Compliance & Policy Adherence
Maintain complete and accurate account records in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.Uphold anti-fraud procedures and ensure proper due diligence for all transactions.Support internal and external audits as needed.Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Accounting, or related field (or equivalent experience).7–10 years of experience in factoring, asset-based lending (ABL), commercial lending, or credit analysis.Strong understanding of credit principles, risk analysis, invoice finance, and collateral management.Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship‑building skills.Proficiency with Excel and financial analysis tools.Preferred
Experience using Factoring or ABL portfolio systems (e.g., Factor Soft, Hub Tran, Jack Henry, or similar).Industry-specific knowledge (e.g., transportation, staffing, manufacturing).Familiarity with UCC filings, lien searches, and commercial credit bureaus (e.g., D&B, Experian).Background in underwriting and credit approvalUnderstand the legal environment and processesKey Competencies
