Job Description

Supply Chain Analyst / Buyer

MasterMold is seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Supply Chain Analyst / Buyer to support our manufacturing and new-business sourcing needs. This is a full-time, onsite position and is not eligible for remote work. This position is ideal for someone who understands the complexities of purchasing within a manufacturing environment and can effectively coordinate materials, suppliers, technical requirements, and production priorities.

As a member of the Purchasing team, this position will work closely with Production, Engineering, Finance, Quality, and external suppliers to ensure raw materials, components, tooling, equipment, and production supplies are available when needed. The role will also support the Engineering team with supplier identification, quoting, and sourcing for new products and customer opportunities.

The successful candidate will be organized, technically capable, and comfortable identifying potential supply issues before they affect production. Candidates with experience reading engineering drawings, reviewing specifications, or working with CAD files are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Purchase raw materials, components, production supplies, tooling, equipment, and other materials required to support manufacturing operations

  • Review purchase requirements, specifications, engineering drawings, and related technical documentation

  • Support Engineering with supplier identification, requests for quotation, cost analysis, and sourcing for new products and customer opportunities

  • Work with Production, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and other departments to understand material requirements and purchasing priorities

  • Monitor inventory levels, material usage, lead times, and production demand

  • Follow up on open purchase orders, supplier commitments, and delivery schedules

  • Identify and communicate supply risks, shortages, pricing changes, quality concerns, and delivery delays that could affect production

  • Work with suppliers to resolve material, delivery, pricing, and quality issues

  • Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations based on cost, quality, lead time, technical capability, and capacity

  • Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, inventory, pricing, and item records within the company’s ERP system

  • Assist with supplier performance reviews, audits, and continuous-improvement activities

  • Help develop alternative sources for critical or difficult-to-source materials and components

  • Support cost-reduction, inventory-control, and supply-chain improvement initiatives

Qualifications
  • Experience in manufacturing purchasing, procurement, supply chain, materials planning, inventory control, or a related field

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, bills of materials, or other technical documentation

  • Experience with CAD files or CAD software is preferred

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, material requirements, supplier lead times, and production scheduling

  • Experience requesting and comparing supplier quotations

  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, negotiation, and follow-up skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing production requirements

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records

  • Experience using an ERP, MRP, purchasing, accounting, or inventory-management system

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience sourcing tooling, fabricated components, molded components, or engineered materials is a plus

  • Ability to work onsite during the position’s regularly scheduled hours

Work Environment
  • This position is performed onsite and is not a remote or hybrid position

  • Primarily office-based, with regular time spent in the warehouse and manufacturing areas

  • Travel between MasterMold’s Johnson Creek and Mauston facilities as needed

  • Occasional travel to supplier locations for visits, sourcing activities, or audits may be required
