We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Junior Accountant to join our property management accounting team. In this role, you will support a diverse portfolio that includes commercial, residential, student housing, and condominium properties. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and eager to grow within a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable
- Process vendor invoices, ensuring proper approval and verification.
- Prepare cheque and online payments; coordinate pickups and mail-outs with vendors and the property management team.
- Review and reconcile the AP sub-ledger and clear vendor statements.
- Post monthly charges and payments from homeowners and tenants.
- Update preauthorized debit information as requested.
- Generate monthly AR reports for the property management team and highlight outstanding balances.
- Assist with budget creation and updates in Yardi.
- Record journal entries and monthly accruals for closing periods.
- Process chargeback invoices, credit card reconciliations, and employee reimbursements.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly and yearend financial statements and conduct detailed variance analysis.
- Complete HST reconciliations and related remittances.
- Support year-end tenant operating and realty tax reconciliations.
- Support monthly operating and financial analysis and management report preparation
- Assist with internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation.
- Perform ad-hoc duties as required.
- College diploma or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, with 1-3 years of equivalent experience
- Experiences in property management or construction industry is an asset.
- Experience with major property management accounting software, especially Yardi Voyager is an asset.
- Strong ability to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- Basic financial analysis skill is an asset
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- 60-70k annually
