About This Position
Beacon Health System is hiring a part-time day shift Registered Nurse (RN) for our outpatient wound care clinic at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN.
Type: Full-Time/FTE .50 (20 hrs/wk)
Shift: Days
Shift Details: Monday- Friday 8a-4:30p

As part of Beacon Health System, we’re dedicated to improving health and inspiring hope throughout the region. What You’ll Do You will report to the Wound Care Clinical Coordinator. You will provide professional nursing wound care in support of medical care as directed by the physician. You will prepare patients for examinations and wound treatment, preps wounds for debridement, takes vitals as indicated, takes pre- and post-debridement photographs, assists physician in all aspects of care and completes dressing changes to include negative pressure wound therapy. You will communicate with patients and physicians routinely in a courteous manner. You will perform other activities necessary to the operation of the clinic. Registered Nurse (RN) Wound Care Job Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care, including administering medications and treatments in accordance with standards and physician orders.
- Prepare patients and exam rooms for visits, obtain histories, vital signs, and specimens, and assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
- Manage patient flow, prioritize emergencies, schedule tests, admissions, and referrals, and provide pre-testing instructions.
- Maintain accurate patient records, track and communicate test results, and document all patient interactions and phone communications.
- Respond to incoming calls, coordinate prescriptions and orders, and educate patients and families on medications and treatment plans.
- Support patient education needs, including self-care, wound care, insulin use, and home monitoring.
- Complete insurance referrals, billing support, consents, and required documentation.
- Maintain equipment, procedure trays, exam room cleanliness, OSHA compliance, and inventory supplies. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
- The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through successful completion of a nursing program from an accredited school of nursing.
- A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Indiana
- CPR certification
- One year of related nursing experience is preferred. One year of medical office nursing experience is preferred.
