This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced bookkeeping professional to manage a portfolio of UK clients in a fast-paced, remote-friendly environment. You will handle end-to-end bookkeeping, payroll administration, VAT, and HMRC filings while ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK accounting standards. The role allows for direct client interaction, providing insights and maintaining strong professional relationships. You will work collaboratively within a growing finance team, balancing multiple priorities and deadlines. This position is ideal for someone detail-oriented, proactive, and looking to further develop their career in a dynamic accounting environment.
- Manage a portfolio of UK clients, maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records
- Process cashbook entries, perform bank reconciliations, and post month-end journal entries
- Maintain fixed asset registers, including depreciation and disposals, and handle intercompany reconciliations
- Prepare monthly management accounts and assist with financial reporting
- Administer payroll, submit returns using payroll software, and reconcile VAT for HMRC submissions
- Electronically file annual accounts and confirmation statements with HMRC
- Keep internal workflow systems updated and support ad hoc finance-related tasks as required
- Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accounting firm serving UK clients
- Diploma or degree in accounting or a related field
- Proficient in Xero, Sage Business Online, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
- Skilled in payroll administration, preferably using Simple Pay or similar software
- Strong understanding of UK accounting regulations and HMRC filing requirements
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment
