Schedule: Hybrid (Optional 50% remote, 50% in-office)
Position Summary
The Business Manager oversees financial operations, administrative functions, and human resources for the parish. This role ensures efficient operations, maintains hands-on financial management, and supports the Pastor in managing day-to-day and strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Accounting
- Develop and manage the annual budget in collaboration with the Pastor and Finance Council
- Prepare quarterly and annual financial reports
- Maintain accurate accounting records, including journal entries and reconciliations
- Perform hands-on management of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash receipts
- Ensure timely processing of vendor payments and maintenance of vendor records
- Manage electronic transactions, donations, and online giving systems
- Ensure proper internal controls, audit trails, and safeguarding of parish assets
- Coordinate year-end financial processes and required diocesan reporting
- Track and prepare 1099 reporting data
Payroll & Human Resources
- Process bi-weekly payroll and verify employee timesheets
- Maintain employee records and personnel files in compliance with diocesan policies
- Oversee onboarding, orientation, and offboarding processes
- Ensure new hires understand all employee benefits
- Supervise staff performance, workload, and scheduling across all parish employees
- Support hiring processes, including interviews and candidate recommendations
- Serve as a resource for employee relations and conflict resolution
Operations & Administration
- Oversee daily administrative operations of the parish office
- Serve as a primary point of contact for parishioners, vendors, and external partners
- Manage office systems, databases, and recordkeeping processes
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and service providers
- Approve purchases and manage supplies and petty cash
- Receive and distribute correspondence
- Ensure timely donor acknowledgments and contribution statements
- Maintain general oversight of parish facilities and maintenance coordination
- Maintain general awareness of all parish functions and operations
Leadership & Compliance
- Work closely with the Pastor to support operational and strategic priorities
- Ensure compliance with diocesan financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Attend required diocesan meetings and trainings
- Promote efficient workflows and continuous improvement across parish operations
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in all areas of responsibility

Professional Qualifications
The following qualifications are preferred and considered highly desirable:
- Experience in business management, accounting, or financial operations
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
- Organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial management systems (e.g., QuickBooks)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to remain in an office at a computer workstation and access information from a computer and use a telephone. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the office, as well as maneuver throughout the parish/school facility to attend meetings, briefings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend meetings or events. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
