About This Position
JOB SUMMARY
The Quality Inspector, under the direction of the Safety & Quality Assurance Manager, supports the organization’s commitment to producing high-quality goods by identifying defects, documenting findings, and facilitating Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) to maintain product integrity and customer satisfaction. This role ensures compliance with internal standards, customer specifications, and ISO 9001:2015 requirements.
The Quality Inspector will be responsible for the following core job duties:
- Quality Inspection & Testing: Perform routine inspections and testing of raw materials, in-process goods, finished products, and outbound shipments. Conduct visual inspections, dimensional checks, leak tests, and other quality assessments as required. Document inspection results accurately and completely, maintaining both digital and physical records. Identifying non-conforming materials or products and initiate NCRs in collaboration with production and quality teams. Communicate inspection findings to the Safety & Quality Assurance Manager and relevant supervisors. Support ISO 9001:2015 compliance by following established protocols and contributing to audit readiness.
- Production & Shipping Support: Verify packaging and labeling accuracy for finished goods prior to shipment. Assist with quality-related documentation for production logs, shipping records, and traceability. Apply quality control identifiers (e.g., glow dots, tags) to inspected items as per procedure.
- Collaboration & Reporting: Provide end-of-shift reports summarizing inspection activities, findings, and any actions taken. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and quality training sessions. Maintain organized inspection files and contribute to quality data tracking systems.
- General Duties: Adhere to Lighthouse Louisiana’s safety plan and workplace practices. Perform duties in a professional, team-oriented manner. Support other quality-related tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Prior experience in quality inspection or manufacturing preferred; ISO experience preferred.
- Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to read and interpret product specifications and inspection criteria. Proficient in basic math and Microsoft Office applications. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks. Critical thinker with good problem solving skills. Superior oral and written communication skills.
- Supervisory Responsibility: None.
- Physical: Able to detect minor defects on finished products, completed cases, stacked pallets, and printed labels. Ability to move safely and independently throughout a dynamic manufacturing environment, avoiding obstacles that change throughout the day. Able to reach, bend, and stoop to perform inspection duties. Able to comfortably lift 50 lbs.
- Personality: Reliable, motivated, flexible, and team oriented. Excellent interpersonal skills. Passion for ensuring high quality work.
- Working Conditions: Manufacturing and warehouse settings.
- Work Schedule: Full time/Non-Exempt, 40 hours weekly. May work some overtime hours during emergencies and when extraordinary circumstances warrant overtime to ensure adequate stabilization and issue resolution.
- Background Check and Drug Testing required: Employment is contingent upon satisfactory results.
