About the Role

The Group Exercise Manager is responsible for developing and coordinating a world-class group exercise program for the members of the MVP Sports Clubs. Specific areas include coordinating, scheduling, training, and evaluating a highly effective team of group exercise instructors. Ensuring the scheduling and delivery of cutting-edge group exercise programs. This position is a part of the Fitness Department, reporting directly to the Regional Group Exercise Manager, with a dotted line to the Club Director.

Responsibilities

  • Know,understand,and exemplify the MVP Sports Clubs service standards.
  • Ensure all team members (in and out of their department) know,understand and exemplify the MVP Sports Clubs Service Standards.
  • Perform all team member Annual Performance Reviews in a thorough and timely manner.Which includes observation and review of each group exercise instructor for performance, quality and adherence to program specificity, including video review and personal feedback from the instructor on their own class.
  • Maintain a quality Group Exercise team by recruiting, hiring,training, evaluating, coaching, maintaining proper payroll records and critical statistic records kept for club operations analysis.
  • Assist with events to actively promote member attendance and connection to the club with a goal of increasing retention.
  • Be an in-building champion of all Group Exercise programs/formats.
  • In-club point of contact for all GX initiatives, including frequent communication with all building leadership.
  • Ensure the delivery of a diversified and quality group exercise program, including overseeing the implementation and management of LesMills programming and other modalities.
  • Utilize Dashboard & KPI to manage Group Exercise Budget effectively.
  • Effectively analyze and develop quarterly group exercise schedules that promote and grow membership attendance in both classes and the club.
  • Meet regularly with the Regional Manager to assess performance and adherence to departmental goals, timelines, strategies, and campaigns.
  • Maintain and receive additional certifications & education,and encourage staff to pursue additional certifications.
  • Assist with other club operations tasks as needed, as directed by the Club Director.
  • Adhere to all departmental and programming Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
  • Instructional time to range from not less than 2 hours per week and on average less than 15hours per week.
  • Create a personal teaching,training, and events schedule that is largely self-regulated while balancing time for the execution of leadership roles,responsibilities, and team development.
  • Lead regular Service Game training sessions.
  • Maintain a neat and professional personal appearance, by wearing the MVP Sports Clubs uniform and name badge.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • College degree in a fitness-related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching various group exercise programs, with at least 1 year of leadership responsibilities.
  • Maintain personal national certification as well as ensuring all staff national certification statuses are up to date.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills are needed to supervise and motivate a large team of instructors.
  • First Aid/CPR Training.In the event a team member is hired without CPR or First certifications, they will be required to attend MVP Sports Clubs in-house training to obtain this.
  • Encouraged to complete the Aquatics Skills Preparedness Course to provide coverage for lifeguards during short breaks.
  • Must have the physical ability to substitute for staff as needed.
  • Physical Requirements: Bend, stoop, crouch, climb, stand, sit and turn/pivot; Lift/lower, push, pull and carry up to 40lbs; perform office tasks using simple hand grasping, fine hand manipulation and reach associated with assigned tasks such as paperwork, typing, and/or word processing, filing, calculating and use of telephone; See, hear, and speak with sufficient capability to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions.
