Position Summary:
The Department ofOphthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of New Mexico (UNM) HealthSciences Center is expanding and seeks an outstanding vitreoretinal surgeon tojoin our rapidly growing group. This position's expertise will significantly contributeto the preservation and restoration of vision in our patients.

Applicants must havecompleted an accredited vitreoretinal surgery fellowship. The successfulcandidate will be expected to develop a busy clinical practice at the UNMHospital Eye Clinic, and will share responsibility with existing faculty forcall and medical student and resident education. Candidates are expected tohave a strong commitment to clinical care, teaching, and research in anacademic setting. The qualified applicant will be joining an establishedand busy vitreoretinal surgical service with one other full-time attendingphysician. As part of the UNM Health System, the Eye Clinic provides arewarding mix of tertiary and indigent care with a wide breadth of medical andsurgical retinal pathology. Surgery is performed in an outpatient surgical centerand incoming surgeons can expect to quickly build up to 5-7 surgical cases perweek. Opportunities for clinical trial participation are available ifinterested.
