The MedAxiom Consulting Care Transformation team is innovative, agile, and mission‑driven. In partnership with the American College of Cardiology, we work to transform cardiovascular care and improve heart health for all.
We’re looking for consultants with cardiovascular experience, strong communication and presentation skills, the ability to manage complex projects, and the confidence to develop business. Candidates should be effective working both independently and as part of a team, and willing to travel regularly.
Growth is built into the role. Consultants develop deep expertise across broad and niche cardiovascular areas, supported by MedAxiom’s national presence and the resources of the ACC. Responsibilities
- Provide cardiovascular consulting services to members and non-member CV programs, industry partners, and other CV stakeholders across North America and globally in the following areas:
- Vision setting and strategic planning
- Governance and leadership
- Service line development
- Operations, both inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory
- Clinical integration and standardization
- Specialty clinic development and optimization
- New program development
- Workforce planning and development
- Provider compensation
- Physician / Hospital integration and alignment strategies
- Co-Management development
- Cath lab, ASC, and Office Based Lab assessments, optimization, and development services
- Population health
- Risk contracting
- Create written and electronic content based on the above, working closely with internal MedAxiom and American College of Cardiology (ACC) resources
- Present and speak in front of large and small groups
- Business development, on behalf of MedAxiom
Qualifications
- Masters degree or higher
- Candidates must have 10 plus years of experience, including at least 2 years in an administrative and/or leadership role.
- Ability to work in changing environments, build collaborative relationships, and shift priorities when needed.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a highly matrixed organization.
- Proven experience and success in developing business plans and achieving revenue targets.
- Proven record in building strategic professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders; in innovative and effective collaboration and communication; and in program management.
- Excellent analytical, written, verbal, presentation, and organization skills with demonstrated track record of successful management.
- Good judgment/decision making skills. Ability to handle sensitive issues professionally and initiate new activities as needed.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a team environment and work well with professionals in a challenging and fast-paced work environment.
- Capacity for innovative thinking and creative strategizing to invigorate efforts towards enhanced profitability.
Ability to manage own schedule, including travel, with a willingness to travel up to 50-75% of the time.
- Current or prior clinical practice experience in cardiovascular care (ambulatory, inpatient, procedural, heart failure, EP, imaging, structural heart, or related CV subspecialty).
- Progressive leadership experience driving team-based care initiatives involving APPs, physicians, nursing, and operational partners.
- Demonstrated success leading care model transformation in at least one of the following environments:
- Health system cardiovascular programs
- Private cardiovascular groups
- Integrated delivery networks (IDNs)
- Academic medical centers
Key Competencies:
- Cardiovascular clinical expertise with strong real-world operational understanding
- Team-based care design and implementation leadership
- APP workforce strategy, optimization, and governance
- Executive presence and stakeholder influence (physician and administrative)
- Consulting delivery discipline: scope control, timelines, outcomes, professionalism
Desired:
- QA/QI experience preferred (formal training or leadership in quality improvement, clinical effectiveness, or patient safety initiatives).
- Experience with performance frameworks and methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, Pchange management).
- Experience supporting cardiovascular strategic planning, network development, or access/capacity optimization.
- Knowledge of value-based care models, care coordination, and population health approaches in cardiology.
