Typical Job Duties

Product Vision & Strategy

  • Roadmap Ownership: Ensure the product roadmap reflects the right priorities at all times, with every initiative rigorously vetted for customer value, business viability, and technical feasibility before it moves forward.
  • Vision Contribution: Collaborate actively with the CPO on product vision and multi-year strategy, bringing market insight, customer understanding, and executional perspective to the conversation. This is an 80% execution, 20% vision role. The ideal candidate is energized by turning great strategy into tangible outcomes, not just defining it.
  • Portfolio Health: Maintain a healthy balance across new feature development, platform quality work (technical debt and bugs), and strategic business initiatives, making and communicating tough trade-off decisions when priorities conflict.
  • Stakeholder Alignment: Act as the connective tissue between the CPO, exec team, internal stakeholders, and customer feedback. Synthesize competing inputs into a coherent, well-sequenced set of priorities that deliver value to the business.
  • Business & Customer Responsiveness: Track strategic initiatives from the business and ensure customer needs are surfaced, prioritized, and addressed in a timely and transparent way.
Product Leadership
  • PM Coaching & Development: Lead a team of product managers across diverse product domains, raising the bar on product craft through regular coaching, feedback, and career development, building a team that makes great decisions independently.
  • Collaborative Discovery: Deliver the best products by ensuring the product, user experience, and engineering teams are collaborating early and often, and that internal stakeholders and customers are always part of the design process.
  • Process & Accountability: Ensure PMs are consistently following core product processes, including stakeholder communication, UX collaboration, discovery practices, and launch readiness, and step in to course-correct when needed.
  • Deep Product Knowledge: Invest continuously in understanding Stukent’s products from the inside out by spending time with customers, exploring the platform hands-on, and staying close to the details. This isn’t a role where you can lead from a distance. Credibility with your team and stakeholders depends on genuinely knowing what we build and who we build it for.
  • Metrics & Outcome Ownership: Define the key metrics that measure product success, including adoption, retention, and engagement, and take direct accountability for moving them through the priorities you set, the processes your team follows, and the trade-offs you make. Success here is measured in outcomes, not output.
  • Hiring & Org Development: Define the team structure and talent needed to support Stukent’s product ambitions, actively recruiting, onboarding, and developing PM talent to build a high-performing, scalable organization.
Strategic Project Delivery
  • Complex Initiative Leadership: Lead complex product initiatives from initial scoping through delivery, including major platform migrations and other multi-team efforts. This means developing a clear written plan with defined scope, milestones, and owners before work begins, and maintaining visibility and control throughout.
  • Project Discipline: Drive accountability across Engineering, Design, and other stakeholders by ensuring every major initiative has a documented plan, clear decision points, and consistent progress communication. Step in to resolve blockers and re-scope when reality diverges from the plan.
Cross-Functional Partnerships
  • Leadership Communication: Drive regular, structured communication to the exec team on roadmap status, product outcomes, and strategic priorities, ensuring leadership has the visibility and context needed to make informed decisions and stay aligned with the product organization.
  • Engineering Partnership: Cultivate a strong, collaborative working relationship with engineering leadership. Ensure healthy backlog grooming, clear prioritization, and a productive product/engineering dynamic that keeps the team moving with velocity and purpose.
  • Go-to-Market Collaboration: Partner with Marketing and Sales on product positioning, launch coordination, and internal enablement, ensuring the commercial team is equipped to effectively represent and sell what’s being built.
Qualifications
  • Experience: 7+ years of progressive experience in Product Management, with a minimum of 3 years in a dedicated leadership role (Director or above) managing a team of product managers.
  • SaaS Product Experience: Deep familiarity with SaaS product development methodologies and the dynamics of a platform-driven business. EdTech experience is a strong plus and will be weighted heavily in our evaluation.
  • Execution Track Record: Demonstrated ability to plan and deliver complex, multi-stakeholder product initiatives, with clear examples of translating ambiguous priorities into structured plans and seeing them through to measurable outcomes.
  • PM Leadership: Proven experience coaching and developing product managers, raising the bar on craft, process, and accountability across a team.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to operate at both the strategic and tactical level, contributing meaningfully to product vision while maintaining the discipline and focus to execute against it.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Strong track record of building alignment across Engineering, Client Success, Sales, and executive leadership, leading through influence as much as authority.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, able to present complex trade-offs and strategic recommendations clearly to executive audiences.
  • Metrics Orientation: Comfortable defining, tracking, and being held accountable for product outcome metrics including adoption, retention, engagement, and similar indicators of real product success.
  • Tools: Working proficiency with modern product management and collaboration tools, including Notion and Linear or similar platforms.
  • AI Fluency: Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools, including LLMs like Claude, ChatGPT, or similar, to meaningfully improve personal and team productivity. We’re looking for a leader who stays current with the rapidly evolving AI landscape, actively experiments with new tools, and can help the product organization identify and adopt AI-powered workflows that scale our efficiency and output.
