Intermodal Operations Coordinator

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Intermodal Operations Coordinator in the United States.

This role is central to ensuring the smooth execution of high-volume, multimodal freight operations across port, rail, and last-mile networks. You will be responsible for coordinating complex drayage movements while maintaining full visibility over shipments, timelines, and cost exposure. The position requires strong operational discipline, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple moving parts in a fast-paced logistics environment. You will act as a key liaison between customers, carriers, and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and proactive exception management. The role blends hands-on logistics execution with administrative precision, including documentation control and performance tracking. You will also leverage modern logistics platforms and analytics tools to improve visibility, efficiency, and decision-making across operations.

Accountabilities:
  • Plan, schedule, and execute drayage operations including port pickups, rail ramp transfers, transloads, and last-mile deliveries across a high-volume shipment network.
  • Manage container lifecycle elements such as free time, chassis availability, demurrage, detention, and per diem exposure across multiple terminals and carriers.
  • Coordinate across multimodal carrier networks to ensure timely, cost-effective, and end-to-end shipment execution.
  • Serve as the primary operational contact for customers, providing proactive updates and managing shipment exceptions in real time.
  • Use transportation and analytics platforms to track shipments, identify risks, and monitor performance metrics.
  • Review, audit, and dispute carrier invoices and accessorial charges with strong supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate shipment records and ensure data integrity across systems and workflows.
  • Generate operational reports, KPIs, and exception summaries to support performance visibility.
  • Support carrier onboarding and maintain strong relationships with transportation partners.
Requirements:
  • 3–5 years of experience in logistics operations with strong exposure to drayage and multimodal transportation environments.
  • Solid understanding of port, terminal, rail, and steamship line operations.
  • Experience managing demurrage, detention, per diem, and accessorial charge disputes with strong documentation practices.
  • Familiarity with customs processes, including coordination with CBP, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.
  • Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and comfort working across multiple logistics platforms.
  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and operational tracking models.
  • Experience or familiarity with analytics tools such as ThoughtSpot, Power BI, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy.
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with customers, carriers, and internal teams.
  • Familiarity with UIIA and chassis provider operations is preferred.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary range of $70,000 to $80,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
  • Equity participation in a fast-growing, tech-enabled logistics organization.
  • Flexible Time Off (FTO) policy.
  • Monthly telecom stipend.
  • Fully remote work schedule.
  • Access to modern logistics tools and proprietary operational platforms.
  • Career growth opportunities within a rapidly expanding logistics and technology environment.
  • Collaborative and fast-paced team culture focused on operational excellence.
