Position Overview
The Plant Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial machinery, mechanical systems, and production equipment within the facility. This role helps ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations by performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing equipment issues, and minimizing downtime.
What You'll Do
- Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial machinery and mechanical equipment.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on plant systems and production equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical failures and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Repair or replace motors, bearings, pumps, conveyors, valves, belts, chains, and hydraulic or pneumatic components.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, equipment manuals, and technical drawings.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify wear, damage, or safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and repair documentation.
- Support equipment installation, modification, and startup activities.
- Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
- Coordinate with production personnel to minimize operational disruptions during repairs.
- Maintain compliance with company safety procedures, OSHA standards, and plant policies.
- Assist with emergency maintenance repairs as needed.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.

What You'll Bring
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Basic computer skills and ability to use maintenance management systems.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Technical school certification, vocational training, or apprenticeship in industrial maintenance or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of industrial maintenance or mechanical repair experience preferred.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, or processing plant environment preferred.
Other Qualifications
- Basic welding and fabrication experience preferred.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and on-call schedules as needed.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required certifications or licenses.
