Carter Burden Network (CBN) is seeking a full‑time, bilingual (English/Spanish) Receptionist to join our Covello Older Adult Center as a leave replacement from mid‑August through early December 2026. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys connecting with people, thrives in a busy community setting, and wants to support older adults with dignity, warmth, and respect.
Carter Burden Network promotes the well‑being of adults aged 60+ through services, advocacy, arts and culture, health and wellness, and volunteer programs. What You’ll DoAs one of the two welcoming faces of the Covello Older Adult Center, you’ll help keep daily operations running smoothly while creating a warm, supportive environment for participants, staff, and visitors.
Front Desk & Participant Support- Greet older adults, staff, and visitors with professionalism and warmth
- Answer phones, respond to inquiries, and relay messages
- Keep the lobby organized, welcoming, and safe
- Scan participants for congregate breakfast and lunch
- Assist older adults using the wheelchair lift or stairs when needed
- Prepare monthly statistics, flyers, and program materials
- Create and count breakfast and lunch tickets
- Update daily activity boards
- Support staff with photocopying, filing, data entry, and general office tasks
- Assist with overflow tasks such as VIVE unit entry, digital signage updates, and basic research
- Provide accurate information about programs and activities
- Coordinate with program staff to share updates and announcements
- Operate the intercom system as needed
- Ensure bulletin boards and communication tools stay current
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (required)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Comfort working in a lively, people‑centered environment
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams)
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and reliability
- A genuine interest in serving older adults
Preferred: Experience in customer service, office administration, or community‑based work.
Schedule & Work Environment- Full‑time, 35 hours/week (non‑exempt)
- One‑hour unpaid lunch break
- Must be flexible to provide coverage when needed
- Occasional evening or weekend hours with advance notice
- Work takes place in a busy lobby within a four‑story center (elevator and stairs available)
- Ability to remain seated for long periods and occasionally lift 10–15 lbs
- Hourly rate: $16.88–$18.09, based on experience and internal equity
