2nd Shift Supervisor at STARC Systems Inc – Brunswick, Maine

At STARC Systems, we believe great teams build great products. As a Second Shift Supervisor, you will play a key role in supporting and guiding a team in our assembly and machine shop environment. This position combines hands-on production work with team leadership, helping employees succeed while ensuring our products meet the highest standards of quality and safety.

In this role, you will lead and support a team of approximately 15 - 20 employees on second shift, helping coordinate daily production activities while fostering a collaborative and positive work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities will include but are limited to:

Team Leadership and Support:

• Provide day-to-day leadership for second-shift employees in the assembly and machine shop areas
• Address employee concerns and workplace issues proactively, working with management and HR when appropriate to support resolution
• Help onboard and train new team members to ensure they are set up for success
• Assign and coordinate work to support production goals and workflow
• Offer coaching, guidance, and feedback to help employees grow and perform at their best
• Share updates between shifts to support continuity and efficient operations
• Participate in performance discussions, including 90-day and annual reviews

Production and Operations:

• Work alongside the team performing production tasks such as assembly, machine operation, inspection, and packing
• Interpret specifications, prints, and job orders to complete work accurately
• Set up and operate equipment needed for assembly and machining processes
• Perform both primary and secondary assembly operations

Quality and Continuous Improvement:

• Inspect materials, products, and equipment to ensure quality standards are met
• Maintain high product quality and help identify opportunities for improvement
• Monitor inventory levels using Kanban systems and restock materials as needed

Safety and Workplace Organization

• Support a safe and organized production environment through consistent application of 5S principles
• Follow all company safety policies and encourage safe practices among team members
• Operate forklifts as needed to move materials and support shipping and receiving activities
• Supports and models STARC Systems values and mission
• Other duties as assigned, relevant to the role and in support of the needs of the company

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

• 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment with hands-on familiarity with shop floor operations
• 3+ years of proven leadership experience supervising or leading teams, preferably in a manufacturing setting
• Associate’s degree in manufacturing, engineering technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Ability to read and accurately interpret production drawings, work instructions, and job orders
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to lead and support a diverse production team
• Ability to prioritize work, coordinate tasks across a team, and maintain production schedules with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork, maintain accountability, and support a positive work environment
• Commitment to maintaining high quality standards and continuous improvement
• Strong awareness of safety practices and the ability to promote a safe work environment for all team members
