Bus Driver - Part-Time at JCC OF CENTRAL NJ INC – SCOTCH PLAINS, New Jersey

The JCC of Central NJ is a non-profit agency whose mission is to educate, enrich and empower our community – from generation to generation. The JCC offers educational, recreational, fitness & wellness, cultural and communal programs and activities to people of all abilities and all stages of life.

Summary of Position:

The JCC is looking for a responsible, experienced bus driver who enjoys working with children and older adults to transport them to the JCC for programming via a school bus and/or omnibus. This is a year-round, part-time overtime non-exempt position who reports to various Program Directors depending on the season. Approximate work schedule is: Monday-Thursday 5-6 hours per day (broken up between morning and afternoon); Fridays 2 hours (total 25-28 hours per week); summer seasonal schedule may vary.

Key Responsibilities:

Safely operate passenger vehicle on a regular schedule (and special schedule, as needed)Check operating condition of the bus before starting on a tripReport any operational defect to immediate superiorInform children about safety practicesProvide physical assistance to older adults upon entering and departing the busAssist older adults with loading/unloading mobility devices such as walkersKeep interior and exterior of vehicle clean and neatMaintain records of mileage, routes, time and incidentsConduct bus evacuation drills twice each yearMaintain current, unexpired NJ MVC required documents (CDL, Medical Examiner's Certificate, etc)Assist with transporting buses to yearly inspectionBring buses in for quarterly service, and other service appointments as needed

Requirements:

Must have current, unexpired minimum Class C Commercial Driver's License (CDL), with P and S endorsementsPrevious bus driving experience and excellent driving history requiredMust meet NJ MVC requirements for operating a school bus, including having a CDL holder Self-Certification document along with a Medical Examiner's Certificate issued within the last 2 yearsCriminal background check and fingerprinting required

Physical Demands:

Drive a motor vehicle for a few hours at a timePhysically assist older adults in safely entering and departing the bus, including navigating the stairsAssist older adults with loading/unloading mobility devices such as walkers
