Position Title: Seasonal Special Events Train Conductor

Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Guest Services Manager

Department: Guest Services

SUMMARY

Turtle Bay Exploration Park is seeking Trackless Train Conductors! Join our vibrant and family-friendly team as a Train Conductor on a beautiful campus setting! We're looking for outgoing, energetic individuals to operate a charming electric trackless train that brings joy to children and families alike. If you’re someone who loves making people smile, enjoys being active, and takes pride in safety and service, this is the role for you. This is a part-time position, with an expected schedule of 20 to 30 hours per week.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Operate a Trackless Electric Train: Safely and confidently drive the train along designated routes on campus while ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all passengers.

· Deliver Exceptional Guest Service: Provide outstanding customer care with warmth, enthusiasm, and professionalism to all guests, especially children and their families.

· Engage with Guests: Greet and interact with children and parents in an animated and friendly manner; create a fun and welcoming atmosphere.

· Always Promote Safety: Ensure the safety of passengers through proper operation, loading, unloading, and following all safety procedures and guidelines.

· Maintain Train Presentation: Perform light cleaning and inspections of the train to keep it in pristine condition.

· Work Flexibly: Be available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and flexible hours in accordance with the park’s operating schedule.

· Become knowledgeable about the park history, facility, and surrounding environment and wildlife. Provide interpretation for guests and general information about Turtle Bay.

Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· High School Diploma or GED required.

· Prior experience working with children or in a family-focused or recreational setting is strongly preferred.

· Must possess at least nine years of safe, verifiable driving experience with a clean driving record.

· Customer service experience in a fast-paced environment is a plus.

· Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required.

· Previous experience operating vehicles or machinery (e.g., golf carts, trams, or similar) is helpful but is not required. We provide paid, hands-on training.

· Ability to demonstrate good judgment, responsibility, and a strong commitment to guest safety and satisfaction.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

· Professional, Outgoing, animated, and physically active with a cheerful personality.

· Experience working with children or in family-focused environments is preferred.

· Must be comfortable working in a confined or enclosed space. The conductor area of the train is compact and requires the ability to remain seated for extended periods.

· Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.

· Able to greet and communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and guests, including school-age children, young adults, and teachers.

· Must be reliable, punctual for shifts, and able to coordinate their personal and professional schedules.

· Able to observe, recognize, and take action to correct potentially hazardous situations.

· Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

· Must possess a valid California driver’s license or be able to acquire within ten (10) days. Provide a clean DMV report.
