About This Position
Summary:
This position is responsible for advanced aerodynamic development and support services, leading aerodynamic projects, and providing expertise to optimize performance and efficiency.
Essential Functions of the Job:
The essential functions of this job require the person, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform the following:
- Lead and conduct Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations using Star CCM+ software on customer applications.
- Provide expert input into the design to optimize airflow, efficiency, and acoustics, generating detailed reports for customer communication.
- Oversee the design and optimization of axial and radial impellers or fans using Star CCM+, empirical design methods, and other ebm-papst software tools.
- Maintain and apply advanced knowledge of Creo CAD software.
- Coordinate closely with the R&D Americas team on aerodynamic development projects.
- Guide the design optimization cycle in aerodynamic development projects.
- Provide technical support and mentorship to Aerodynamics team, Applications Engineers, and the Engineering lab regarding aerodynamic challenges and customer projects.
- Conduct comprehensive training on aerodynamic principles for Applications Engineers and other relevant departments.
- Oversee the building of prototype impellers/fans and coordinate with the lab for testing.
- Maintain regular contact with CFD experts at ebm-papst Germany and other external contacts.
- Keep up-to-date technical knowledge of all products sold by ebm-papst Inc.
- Visit customers as required and conduct high-level technical discussions with customers, Sales personnel, and other ebm-papst staff.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Recommended Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering is ideal but not mandatory.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience focused on aerodynamic systems or fans.
- Proven leadership in industry, specifically supervising aerodynamic projects and advanced CFD simulations.
