Oncology Infusion Scheduler at St. Josephs Candler – Savannah, Georgia

The Infusion Scheduling Specialist is responsible for scheduling patient appointments to meet the diverse needs of the oncology patient. The position is assigned to the oncology infusion service and is responsible for the scheduling activities and clerical supportive duties within the unit. The day to day functions require coordination with physicians & mid level providers as well as clinical & non clinical physician office staff. Knowledge of basic oncology regimens and infusion time requirements for scheduling are utilized by the scheduler to assure treatment schedules are accurate so patient waiting times are minimized and necessary supportive care is provided. The ability to resolve scheduling conflicts and resource utilization with patients, staff and physician team is essential and is a daily activity. The scheduling specialist will provide administrative support in the units and actively participate in performance improvement activities & patient satisfaction plans. The scheduling specialist monitors & documents missed appointments and follows up with patients to reschedule the appointment or document discontinuation of treatments. Routinely reviews schedule in advance for appropriate information and requirements such as prior authorization and insurance changes to proactively address concerns prior to the day of treatment. Scheduling specialist practices excellent phone etiquette and consistently presents a positive attitude for improving the patient/staff experience.
