Overview
Supervisor – Painter/Powder Coat – will be required to assign daily work tasks and provide supervision to Electric Boat personnel in the Services (R2) Division off NSSF under the NEMMI contract. The individual shall be expected to interface with the Navy, government civilian and contractor personnel to solve technical, scheduling and resource issues. The selected individual shall have a detailed knowledge of all phases of painting, powder coating and plastisol processes including the operation of a military spruce barge. Daily progress reporting to the Navy, including use of automated information systems, detailed work status reporting, logistic support interfacing and forecasting completion in support of ships underway schedules is expected.
The individual must also be able to forecast material requirements to support expected workload. Additionally, person will be responsible for labor time recording, scheduling of overtime within prescribed limits and required training maintenance of all contractor personnel assigned to the Services Division.
The individual will also be capable of developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives and will be required to possess at least a DOD confidential security clearance.
Responsibilities
- Must have a strong understanding of SUBSAFE requirements
- Must be proficient in blueprint and drawing interpretation
- Basic computer skills are required.
- In addition to the above, candidate must possess the skill to present ideas clearly, persuasively and logically, both orally and in writing..
- Candidate must delegate tasks and possess sound judgement and decision making skills to facilitate maintenance.
- The selected individual must be able to work effectively with management and working levels of other divisions and departments, and with fleet activities as necessary to identify, recommend and plan alternate short term solutions, and formulate and implement long term plans.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED
- 5+ years of relevant shipyard experience in new construction or the depot level overhaul and repair of LOS ANGELES, SEAWOLF, and/or VIRGINIA Class nuclear powered submarines of which 3 years is supervisory experience
- Must meet one of the following:
- 1+ years related Electric Boat experience
- 3+ years combined relevant experience and leadership experience in a high-volume setting
- 1+ years EB experience and an Engineering degree in a related field
- Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as business needs dictate
- Must be able to go on road assignments as business needs dictate
Preferred:
- Qualified NACE, UVI and/or URO-3
- Previously qualified QA Work Center Supervisor
- HAZMAT and/or HAZWASTE experience
- Prior JFMM (Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual) experience
- WISP (Production Scheduling and Hours Accountability) experience
