The Opportunity
This role is instrumental in the design and implementation of advanced system solutions for electric vehicle powertrains, with a focus on systems architecture, requirements analysis, and regulatory compliance. The right candidate has a strong understanding of customer requirements, can define and verify system-level behavior, and ensures functional safety throughout the product lifecycle. This role is ideal for those passionate about innovative EV technology who thrive in high-standards, fast-moving environments.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the subject matter expert for EV and energy storage standards and regulations across various industry applications
- Understand customer application requirements and translate them into system-level specifications that align with relevant standards and regulations
- Own system architecture definition and requirements management throughout the product lifecycle
- Conduct concept and engineering design reviews to ensure compliance with all necessary standards and regulations
- Oversee product testing, defining test cases, metrics, and procedures to verify system-level compliance internally
- Lead coordination efforts for certification testing and interface with external testing labs and suppliers
- Leverage diversity of resources (human, technical, equipment, vendor relationships) to execute projects successfully
Qualifications You'll Bring
- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience with electric vehicles, energy storage systems, or related technologies
- Knowledge of applicable standards for testing and certification of high-voltage electric powertrain components
- Understanding of software, electrical, and mechanical design, as well as product development lifecycle
- Experience with requirements management at the system level using tools such as Jama, DOORS, or Polarion
- Experience conducting functional safety analysis per ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or ISO 13849
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
What Makes You Stand Out
- Experience working with High Voltage Battery Systems (400/800 VDC) and Battery Management Systems (BMS)
- Familiarity with communication protocols relevant to EV systems (CAN, J1939, Ethernet, etc.) to support compliance verification
- Experience with functional safety and FMEA analysis across multiple industries (automotive, industrial, aerospace, medical)
- Experience in system-level architecture design for automotive and/or aerospace applications
- Experience interfacing directly with customers on compliance requirements and certification deliverables

South San Francisco, CA Pay Range
The salary range represents the expected base salary for this role. The actual offer will be based on a variety of factors, including knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience. In addition to base salary, full-time employees are eligible for equity/bonus programs and a comprehensive benefits package.
The pay range for this role is:
165,000 - 200,000 USD per year(South San Francsico)
