Job Title: Fleet Maintenance Manager
Reports To: Fleet Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary Range: 70k-85k
Summary:
The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for maximizing efficiency and profitability by managing the maintenance of the vehicles. This position maintains excellent records on vehicle use and maintenance, track logs of driver routes, and resell unwanted vehicles that no longer meet company needs. Responsibilities include all fleet maintenance logistics, ensuring minimized costs and maximizing profits, by monitoring everything from vehicle wear to fuel costs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential duties and responsibilities may include the following:
• Educate new drivers about equipment, truck and trailer parking area and shop premises, and driver PTI Skills Training.
• Road Test new drivers.
• Assigns vehicles for pre-and post-vehicle inspections with documentation.
• Coordinate truck and trailer PMs including annual DOT inspection, and owner operator routine inspection manager with documentation.
• Manage emergency/road call and towing.
• Plan Truck & Trailer repairs with shop management and conduct post-repair inspections.
• Manages new equipment, truck and trailer inspections, document checks, plate checks, IFTA checks, tablet check, Best pass, cameras.
• Maintenance data entry
• Manage Driver courtesy car assignments, inspections and maintenance.
• Update fleet status, repair status, and assist fleet drivers with daily basis needs.
• Transport trucks and trailers from shop to dealer and other shops.
• Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position oversees the Fleet department and is responsible to:
• Set expectations and ensure accountability for subordinate staff as a group and as individuals.
• Identify performance issues, address them with employees, and communicate said issues to the President. Develops and implements performance improvement plans when needed.
• Analyze current personnel and technology resources, identify needs in both, and work with the leadership to develop additional capabilities when needed.
• Train subordinate staff from both a skill set and experienced-based perspective. Works with employees to create short and long-term career development plans.
• Administer personnel functions including recruiting, hiring, review, and approval of job descriptions, selection and placement of personnel, performance reviews and evaluations, and compensation planning.

Education and/or Experience
• CDL-A License- Required
• High School Diploma or equivalent - Required
• Minimum 3 years of experience in transportation industry - Required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook) - Required
• Solid knowledge of the transportation industry and logistics- Required
• Expert knowledge of best driving, delivery, vehicle maintenance and other industry practices
• Familiarity with transportation scheduling and management
• Understanding of basic vehicle mechanics, including the ability to identify when major repairs are needed
• Ability to work well with team members and navigate stressful situations
• A motivated self-starter with a demonstrated ability to maintain a positive can-do attitude
