Kindergarten Teacher at Morning Star Academy – Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Key Responsibilities

- Provide engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned to South Carolina College- and Career-Ready Standards.

- Plan, differentiate, and scaffold lessons to meet the diverse learning needs of early learners.

- Design literacy-rich and numeracy-rich learning environments that promote foundational skills and conceptual understanding.

- Implement formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

- Create a safe, positive, nurturing classroom climate that encourages curiosity, independence, collaboration, and resilience.

- Integrate play-based learning, inquiry activities, hands-on centers, and movement-based instruction to support whole-child development.

- Collaborate with interventionists, specialists, and support staff to meet individual student needs.

- Communicate regularly with families through conferences, newsletters, digital platforms, and progress reports.

- Participate in ongoing professional development, including Read to Succeed requirements as applicable.

- Participate in team meetings, IEP meetings when applicable, and schoolwide professional learning communities.

- Maintain accurate and timely records including grades, attendance, and intervention documentation.

- Supervise students during classroom transitions, recess, and other school activities as assigned.

- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor/administrator.

Required Qualifications

- Valid South Carolina teaching credential in:

• Early Childhood Education (PK–3), or
• Elementary Education (2–6), or a Montessori Elementary/Early Childhood equivalent.

- Bachelor’s degree and completion of SCDE-approved educator preparation requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with early literacy, numeracy, and play-based or inquiry-based instruction.

- Additional endorsements such as Read to Succeed or ESOL.

- Experience supporting social-emotional learning in early childhood settings.
