About This Position

Primary Purpose of Job

Drives and maintains a high quality, profitable loan and deposit banking relationships through sound risk management of the Corporate Banking portfolio. Responsible for the review, structuring, and approval of Commercial & Industrial and Commercial Real Estate loans and advises Management of loan structuring options to mitigate credit risk for the Bank.

Major Job Accountabilities

  • Participates in the active risk management of assigned Corporate Banking portfolio. Works to identify credit weaknesses and raise credit concerns in a timely manner, identify and structure appropriate risk mitigants, and reinforce timely and accurate risk rating assignments.
  • Participates with the Relationship Manager (RM), Department Manager, and Credit team on risks and mitigants associated with recommended deals. Assist with forming structures and covenants that mitigate credit risk for the Bank.
  • With oversight and guidance, reviews or develops the overall objective of the statistical analysis of each property/loan in order to depict sufficient financial information in reports. Advises Management by rendering an independent opinion on overall credit worthiness.
  • With oversight and guidance, assist in advising clients of loan structuring options that best facilitate a successful transaction for the client and the Bank.
  • Participates in the process of recommendations on most loan transactions and relationships.
  • Acceptable skills in the research of appropriate due diligence requirements relative to each borrower’s operating history and proforma in determining the appropriate underwriting cash flow.
  • With oversight and guidance, performs sensitivity analysis/stress testing and other alternative risk scenarios to ensure an adequate margin of repayment protection.
  • Participates in the negotiation and coordination of loan documentation, closing, and interfacing with Loan Operations for new loan originations, loan modifications, and loan amendments.
  • With oversight and guidance, monitor construction loans & disbursements per Bank policy.
  • Knowledge of deposit account establishment and cash management products and can assist the RM, Cash Management, and Commercial Account Servicing teams with the maintenance/onboarding of deposit customers
  • Consistent in delivery of accurate monitoring information to various internal stakeholders to assure the risk rating and regulatory asset quality rating for each loan reflects current conditions.
  • Adequate communication with the RM, Department Manager, Credit Administration, and other internal stakeholders to promote transparency and a productive end-to-end loan process.

Experience Required

Minimum two (2) to three (3) years of experience in the following

  • Some background of commercial & corporate lending.
  • Proficient in commercial credit management.
  • Able to handle all aspects of asset management on a portfolio size of loans and deposits in excess of $50 million each (~$100m+ combined).

Required Skills or Training

  • Some knowledge in commercial and development principles, concepts, dynamics, market conditions, and trends
  • Proficient abilities in cash flow modeling, risk & return measurements.
  • With oversight, ability to review various legal documents including, but not limited to, promissory notes, mortgages, financing statements, security agreements, personal guarantees, subordination agreements, and workout agreements.
  • Working and developing knowledge in:
    • Modern business practices and the legal structures of corporations, partnerships, and sole proprietorships.
    • Accounting principles and practices sufficient to analyze and evaluate financial conditions of corporate enterprises.
    • Business products in order to cross-sell bank products.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate financial/credit data and prepare reports.
  • Able to apply financial regulations, policies, and procedures to analytical work.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Valid US driver’s license and access to transportation
