Field Service Technician

Automatic Door Technician Install and Repair Advanced Access Solutions

Job Overview:

  • Salary/Pay Rate: $27 to $40 per hour plus Year-End Bonus.

  • Location: Ventura, CA (Service area throughout Southern California).

  • Job/Employment Type: Full Time.

  • Schedule: Monday Friday with required Weekends, Overtime, and On-Call rotation.

  • Project Scope: Automatic and manual door install and repair (Residential, Commercial, Government or Federal).

  • Mandatory Licenses & Certifications: None Required.

The Opportunity: You will serve as a vital technical expert ensuring the security and accessibility of high-traffic facilities ranging from hospitals to federal buildings. This role offers the autonomy of field-based work and the chance to master complex access control integrations. You will be part of a dedicated team where hard work and technical aptitude directly lead to long-term career growth.

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Execute high-quality installations and repairs of automatic pedestrian doors, panic hardware, and electric locks.

  • Integrate sophisticated access control systems including keypads, maglocks, and ADA/handicap door operators.

  • Diagnose complex mechanical and electrical failures on-site to restore facility security and functionality.

  • Manage a company service vehicle to provide rapid, professional response to priority service calls.

  • Document technical field reports clearly to ensure accurate communication with the home office and clients.

  • Coordinate with team members during large-scale glazing and storefront glass projects at sensitive locations.

  • Maintain a safe and organized workspace while handling heavy materials and specialized power tools.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot moving parts and circuitry.

  • Valid drivers license with a clean driving record as determined by insurance carriers.

  • Physical ability to safely lift and transport door panels weighing at least 100 pounds.

  • Absolute flexibility to work odd hours, mandatory overtime, and participate in an on-call rotation.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Previous professional experience in locksmithing, access control, low voltage, glazing, glass storefronts, or general commercial construction.

  • Advanced understanding of basic electronics or electrical theory.

  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a field environment.
