PRIMARY RESPONSBILITY: The Electrical Technician role is primarily responsible for working collaboratively to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair advanced high speed manufacturing equipment and responding to electrical troubleshooting demands while managing critical decisions regarding electrical events. This role will also support all electrical plant equipment, systems, and controls, including technical inspections, PM’s, and completion of quality corrective actions/repairs to return and maintain equipment in original condition while including application of proactive technologies.
The Electrical Technician will also support the planning and execution of daily and weekly shutdown activities while participating in cost effective decision making.
POSITION FUNCTIONS:
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures.
- Assemble electrical systems or prototypes, using hand tools or measuring instruments.
- Build, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, or repair electrical instruments or testing equipment.
- Inspect electrical project work for quality control and assurance.
- Identify solutions to on-site technical design problems involving electrical systems equipment.
- Collaborate with technicians to identify, define, or solve problems.
- Set up or operate test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions.
- Review existing electrical engineering criteria to identify necessary revisions, deletions, or amendments to outdated material.
- Modify electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies, or systems to correct functional deviations.
- Interpret test information to resolve design-related problems.
- Provide technical assistance in resolving electrical engineering problems encountered before, during, or after construction.
- Install or maintain electrical control systems or solid state equipment.
- Evaluate engineering proposals, shop drawings, or design comments for sound electrical engineering practice or conformance with established safety or design criteria.
- Maintain production equipment in safe, optimal operating condition to help ensure the protection of all plant employees and visitors.
- Disassemble mechanical equipment and tools, repair or replace worn or broken parts, and reassemble as needed.
- Assists installation or rearrangement of machinery or equipment, testing, and validation of new production equipment.
- Communicates regularly with other departments regarding equipment maintenance and prioritization.
- Conduct continuous monitoring of production and process equipment for proper operation.
- Recognize and perform machine adjustments to the various manufacturing machine systems.
- Determine corrective actions based on Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) Display Monitors or other similar display panels.
- Follow and maintain proper records for All Safety Management procedures and requirements.
- Perform and oversee equipment changeovers as necessary.
- Work with management to inform them of malfunctions or issues.
- Assist coworkers with production or other tasks as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A 2-year technical degree in Electrical or Mechanical.
- A Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience within manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Industrial Controls, 3phase Motors, Servos, VFD’s, Hydraulics, Air Compressors, Pneumatics, Mechanics, Troubleshooting PLCs, Ladder Logic, Allen Bradley RS- Studio 5000, HMI’s, Networking, Print and Schematic reading.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NEC, Best Practices.
- Knowledge of PM’s, Predictive and Pro-Active Maintenance
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- The ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, and work in tight spaces in and around machinery.
- Ability to work on-call and overtime as needed.
- Experience working effectively with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is preferred.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables and implement solutions to correct.
