Job Summary:
The Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator (EHS Coordinator) is responsible for ensuring that Sargent and Greenleaf is in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to the environment, health and safety of employees. This includes developing and implementing safety programs, conducting training and audits, and responding to environmental incidents.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develop, implement, and maintain environmental health and safety programs and policies in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
· Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
· Provide safety training to employees, including new hire orientation, annual refresher courses, and specialized training as needed
· Investigate and respond to environmental incidents, including spills, releases, and other hazardous events
· Maintain accurate records of environmental and safety incidents, training, and audits
· Stay current with new regulations, best practices, and emerging trends in environmental health and safety
· Partner with departments across the organization to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship
· Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak/present effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Education/Experience:
· Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
· 3+ years of experience in environmental health and safety, with experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred
· Strong knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations and standards, including OSHA and EPA regulations
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and motivate employees
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
· Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
· Passion for promoting environmental health and safety in the workplace
