About This Position
The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the democratically elected National Government of the Red River Métis, also known as the Manitoba Métis. The Red River Métis are a distinct Indigenous Nation and People, and Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.
The MMF seeks to fill Senior Administrative Assistant positions within our Red River Métis Government located in Winnipeg, MB. Any application submitted will be considered when a new vacancy arises. The Senior Administrative Assistant will assist in overseeing, monitoring and coordinating the day-to-day administrative operations.
Job Duties/Competencies:
- Act as a primary point of contact between the department and internal/external stakeholders;
- Prepare, review, and edit correspondence, briefing notes, reports, and presentations;
- Manage complex calendars, including scheduling meetings, briefings and events;
- Support meeting preparation, including agendas, materials and follow-up actions;
- Anticipate needs and proactively address scheduling or logistical challenges;
- Coordinate domestic and international travel arrangements, itineraries, and related logistics;
- Photocopy, scan and organize documents for distribution, mailing, filing, and faxing;
- Maintain tracking systems and electronic and hard copy filing systems;
- Order office supplies, complete purchase orders and allocate expenses as per budget for review as requested.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Business Administration, Administrative Assistant or related field;
- Minimum 5 years’ of experience in an Administrative role, experience in government is considered an asset;
- Experience in a computerized office environment with a proven ability with Microsoft Office;
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, anticipate needs, and maintain composure in high-pressure situations;
- Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities with frequent changes and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills;
- Strong analytical, problem solving, time management and organizational skills;
- Ability to work evenings and weekends to meet evolving priorities;
- Experience working for a not-for-profit organization, boards and committees is considered an asset;
- Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
- Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle.
