Description:

Job Summary

The Supervisor, Facilities oversees daily operations and maintenance of large public park facilities that include rental spaces, common areas, and a third-party-operated restaurant. This role ensures that facilities are clean, safe, and ready for public use and scheduled events. The Supervisor oversees activation-focused operations during peak visitation periods, collaborating with Riverwalk partners, coordinating special event logistics, and ensuring the park’s transition from day to evening operations, and back again to morning readiness.

Duties and Responsibilities

Supervision & Leadership:

  • Supervise, schedule, and monitor/evaluate custodial and facility staff, including second-shift and event support teams
  • Train staff on cleaning standards, safety procedures, and use of equipment
  • Collaborate with engagement and enterprise teams and Riverwalk hospitality partners to ensure park spaces are configured to support scheduled activations, including but not limited to: Metroparks-led special events, permitted community-led events, Metroparks programs, private group rentals, and hospitality functions

Facility Operations:

  • Ensure the cleanliness and readiness of all facility spaces, including common areas, restrooms, and event rooms
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs
  • Coordinate event setup and teardown, ensuring layouts meet customer and organizational requirements
  • Inspect facilities and grounds regularly to identify maintenance and safety concerns
  • Serve as primary on-site contact for issues related to facility operations and cleanliness

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain inventory of custodial supplies and equipment; order replacements as needed
  • Prepare reports on maintenance needs, staff performance, and incident logs
  • Assist with development and implementation of standard operating procedures for facility care and event setup
  • Create weekly task list and daily work plans, ensuring alignment with both core services and activation needs
  • Develop monthly planning frameworks that anticipate operational needs for upcoming activations
  • Serve as a liaison between engagement and enterprise teams and park operations to ensure coordination and communication for all Riverwalk-related activations
  • Monitor and complete payroll

Customer Service:

  • Respond promptly and professionally to inquiries and requests from renters, park visitors, and the third-party restaurant operator
  • Resolve conflicts or complaints related to facility conditions or services

Equipment Used

  • Software & Apps: Microsoft Office, Microsoft Outlook, Paylocity, Avaya
  • Maintenance Equipment: Vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, buffers, various small hand/power tools, electric blowers, snow throwers, park vehicles, household appliances, and golf carts

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday 3pm – 11:30pm
  • Home Work Location: Glass City Metropark
  • May require business use of personal vehicle to travel between Metroparks locations
  • Reaching overhead and below the knees, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping frequently on a daily basis; standing, sitting, or walking for an extended period of time; ability to walk up and down stairs frequently on a daily basis. Requires regular lifting up to 50 lb. Outdoor and indoor work in all weather conditions.
Requirements:

Job Requirements

  1. Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  2. Education: high school diploma required, associate degree in facility management, hospitality, or related field preferred
  3. Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in facility operations, custodial services, or related field required; at least 1 year of supervisory experience preferred
  4. Certifications: Must obtain the following certifications within 1 year of employment and fulfill requalification and recertification requirements: (Internal Candidates: Certifications already achieved, preferred).

  • Facility operations, custodial practices, minor maintenance and repair, and safety standards
