About This Position

Yard Driver

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Responsible for loading and shipping product to meet Anchor Ingredients high quality standards, while ensuring the day-to-day operational needs are done in a safe and timely manner. This position will drive transfer truck between Hillsboro facilities via hopper bottoms, dry vans or box truck.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Yard driver operations

  1. Operate payloader/tractor for snow removal
  2. Operate augers, bin take outs, sweeps, and drags
  3. Move augers into place for loading and unloading bulk products
  4. Drive onto or back over transfer conveyor with semi-truck and trailer
  5. Unload trailer while monitoring level in bins
  6. Seal and document trailers as needed, submitting paperwork and product retain sample
  7. Obtain Anchor forklift certification to be able to load and unload pallets when needed
  • Be able to work between facilities transferring product when needed
    1. Scale, ensure correct product, quantity, and destination
    2. Ensure correct paperwork and retain sample for proper documentation
    3. Understand workflows to reduce wait times where possible
  • Be part of the team
    1. This position supports the overall production of multiple facilities
    2. Must be able to work with onsite supervisors to ensure proper schedule
    3. Must be able to work with other scale house or process operators

Housekeeping

  • Clean up any mess before going home for the day ensuring no personal belongings or garbage is left at workstations or other shared common areas
  • Clean up around the unloading area between loads
  • Put tools back in their places after each use
  • Take trash to dumpster with it is full
  • Other Duties: mow lawn, shovel snow, extra clean up and any other tasks that need to be completed around the facility as assigned

General

  • Trouble shoot and communicate breakdowns to our Maintenance team and Supervisor
  • Repair minor issues, etc. replace drive belts & patch holes where and when able
  • Utilize all members of the team to accomplish tasks, holding yourself and others accountable for duties performed. Ask for help when needed.
  • Prioritize employee and food safety first, dumping and loading trucks as the second priority.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred but not required to hold a valid Class A CDL license to drive Semi Truck and Trailer
  • Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
  • Ability to:
    1. lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
    2. stand for extended periods of time
    3. work in dust
    4. open traps on trailers/trucks
    5. work in extreme heat/cold
    6. work in confined spaces
    7. work at significant heights

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to machinery and moving parts, airborne particles including grain dust and hazardous materials or fumes, which may require the use of PPE. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, extended seasonal hours, high precarious places and confined spaces. The noise level in some of the work environments may require the use of hearing protection. While performing the duties of this job inside the office, the employee is frequently exposed to normal working conditions for an office environment with a noise level that is usually quiet to moderate.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time as well as use hands or fingers to reach or handle, and to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. All vision abilities are required to encompass close-up work. On occasion, employee must be able to tolerate and endure extended seasonal hours and maintain alertness to meet deadlines.
