Job Summary

The medical interpreter is responsible for relaying accurate medical information and facilitating the successful delivery of patient services to diverse language segments in compliance with all office, clinic and hospital policies and procedures, particularly relating to patient confidentiality and informed consent. Responsible for written translations required in patient encounters including, but not limited to, forms, care instructions, medication schedules, patient letters, or other identified documents and patient materials.

Education and/or Experience

• College level interpreter training preferred.
• Degree in any area related to health science preferred.
• Experience in a healthcare setting as a medical interpreter with strong medical vocabulary preferred

Certification/Licensure/Registrations

• Proof of English/Spanish fluency, both oral and written, through certified accredited institution or to be established by passing interpreter’s skills test administered through Avera required.
• Individuals are required to pass a medical terminology test.

Work Schedule

• Varied Shift PRN (as needed) Monday–Friday hours
• No weekends

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

• $20.50 - $31.00 per hour
