Machine Shop Supervisor
Summary
The machine shop supervisor directs and coordinates activities of Machine Shop in processing materials or manufacturing products in industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

SMS group is an industrial equipment manufacturer for the steel industry. We design, build, and service equipment and sleep plants across the globe with a strong technical services/machine shop network in North America.
What you’ll do
- Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
- Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
- Maintain tooling and raw material inventory and reorder as needed.
- Fill out job folders and work order log to be input into the ERP system.
- Maintain spreadsheets for all jobs for each department and customer.
- Programming for 2, 3, and 4 axis machines.
- Design special tools for customer.
- Troubleshoot and try to improve the customers processing equipment.
- Machine set up and fixturing.
- Assist in developing and standardizing methods by which performance metrics are established and reported.
- Develop and oversee OEM NCR processes.
- Ability to investigate and resolve non conformances.
- Conduct internal and external supplier audits.
- Assist in reviewing work instructions, routers, drawings and inspection documents.
What you’ll need:
- 6-10 years of overall professional experience in manufacturing management.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals and financial reports.
- Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistic inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. As well as ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportion of practical situations.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

- Computer skills: GSS, Microsoft Outlook Excel and Word, Engineering Software (CAD/CAM), GIBBS CAM
