Job Description

Work Schedule:

  1. 40 hour work week

  2. 7:30 am – 3:30 pm daily, Monday - Friday

  3. 189 work days composed of 177 teaching days and 12 in-service days

Requirements:

  1. Full time faculty must have a minimum of a Bachelor of Arts or a Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university

  2. Transcript of all undergraduate and graduate studies

  3. A current ACSI certificate is required for employment

    1. This requirement must be met before the start of the school year

    2. A new teacher is permitted to apply for a Temporary certificate and renew at the Temporary level one time only

    3. All teachers must hold a minimum of a Standard certificate before the start of their 5th year of employment at NCS

  4. State Teaching Certificate is preferred

Expectations:

Spiritual:

  1. Demonstrate in speech, actions and attitude a consistent walk with Jesus Christ as outlined in the Northside Christian School Doctrinal Statement and the Models of Truth document

  2. Be consistent in personal reading and studying of the Bible

  3. Have an ongoing involved relationship in a local church

  4. Be available to be used by the Holy Spirit for the spiritual encouragement of students and fellow teachers and staff members

  5. Share personal faith with students

  6. Be on time for and attend faculty/staff devotions as scheduled

  7. Demonstrate a positive spirit which searches for the best in students and colleagues

Teaching:

The teacher has the major responsibility of instruction in the assigned curriculum area.

  1. Create a nurturing classroom environment

  2. Demonstrate effective communication with students, regularly teaching to a variety of learning styles

  3. Teach regularly scheduled classes assigned on the Master Schedule

  4. Be informed and aware of the academic, spiritual and social development of each assigned student

  5. Employ those instructional aids, methods and material that will provide for creative teaching

  6. Insure that adequate preparations have been made to accomplish the objectives established in classes assigned

  7. Plan broadly through the use of semester plans and objectives and more currently through the use of the Lesson Plan

  8. Maintain adequate records of attendance and grades to meet state and administration requirements and in order for teacher to have personal knowledge of student’s progress

  9. Make homework assignments meaningful and necessary, challenging and reasonable, keeping family and church responsibilities in mind

  10. In electronic form, update weekly assignments and grades and regularly communicate with parents

  11. Attend and participate in scheduled in-service days

  12. Attend and participate in scheduled departmental meetings and general faculty meetings

  13. Request instructional aids and materials for classroom use

  14. Be willing to update curriculum as needed

  15. Plan, through approved channels

    1. Field trips

    2. Guest lecturers

    3. Other media for creative and interesting teaching

Non-teaching:

Each teacher is directly responsible to the Principal for extra-curricular job related responsibilities as assigned, including, but not limited to:

  1. Keep records of textbooks assigned to students

  2. Keep proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises

  3. Maintain open and helpful communications with students’ parents

  4. Supervise student activities as assigned by administration

  5. Maintain accurate record of personal attendance

  6. Attend regularly scheduled student chapels

  7. Attend meetings, school sponsored parent meetings, graduations, annual banquets, fundraisers, school events and on occasion, NBC events, as required

  8. Attendance is encouraged at student athletic events, competitions and fine arts programs

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Studies, or a related field.
  • Valid teaching certification for middle school or secondary education in Florida.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Experience in curriculum development and staff training.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state standards and engage students in the study of social studies.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including blended learning and educational technology, to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to support their growth.
