About This Position

Hotel Equities, a multi-award-winning hotel development and hospitality management company, is currently searching for a remarkable Food Runner for the Sheraton in Columbia, South Carolina.

Job Purpose:

Ensures quality and proper presentation of food in a timely manner; that food orders are prepared and assembled quickly according to recipes and procedures to avoid waste. Warm, knowledgeable service and helpful guidance reassure guests they’ve m Memorizes menu items, recipes and daily specials to ensure accuracy with final product

  • Read tickets and prepare, to order, all food items following standard recipes and procedures within specified time limits
  • Prepare plate presentations, correctly set up according to ticket
  • Ensure the final presentation of the plate is correct, with appropriate accompaniments and garnishments, and that any special requests have been completed as ordered
  • Ensure the orders are being cooked in a timely fashion
  • Monitor orders by table and ensure all items on a ticket are delivered together
  • Facilitate the delivery of appropriate courses in a timely manner.
  • Presents a clean and professional appearance at all times.
  • Maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by management.

Qualifications and Requirements:

High School diploma /Secondary qualification or equivalent.

Experience with Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Wyndham or Hyatt processes and standards.

This job requires the ability to perform the following:

  • Must have vision ability to clearly see detailed guest checks, computer print outs, written instructions and to observe entire restaurant in dimly lit conditions.
  • Must have manual coordination to punch buttons, grasp items in hand, and to balance and carry trays loaded with food and beverages.
  • Must have ability to perform multiple tasks at one time, must be able to follow verbal and written instruction, and be able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be highly organized and able to pay attention to sound and sight details in crowded and noisy situations, particularly when handling multiple tasks.
  • Must be able to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations.

  • Being passionate about people and service.
  • Strong communication skills are essential when interacting with guests and employees.
  • Reading and writing abilities are used often when completing paperwork, logging issues/complaints/requests/ information updates, etc.
  • Basic math skills are used frequently when handling cash or credit.
  • Problem-solving, reasoning, motivating, and training abilities are often used.
  • Have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and/or holidays
