About This Position
· Assist in the planning and delivery of recreational programs, classes, and special events
· Supervise participants in indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring safety and engagement
· Conducts oneself in a professional manner at all times
· Set up and take down equipment and supplies for programs and events
· Provide basic first aid and respond appropriately to incidents
· Greet and assist the public, answering questions and providing information about programs
· Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of recreation facilities
· Support administrative tasks such as attendance, inventory, and feedback collection
· Capture photos and videos at events to highlight community engagement
· Help promote upcoming events and programs through creative digital outreach
· Collaborate with recreation staff to ensure accurate and appealing public communication
· Represent the Recreation Department at community events, fairs, and outreach activities
· Set up and staff information booths, activity stations, and promotional tables
· Engage with attendees to share information, answer questions, and collect feedback
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to drive a vehicle to and from various facilities and events. Employee will work in an indoor and outdoor setting and will sit, stand, walk, bend, and twist while performing job duties. Employee may be exposed to environments with mechanical, electrical, fire, water, and chemical hazards while performing duties. Employee will routinely lift material weighing up to 30 pounds and will occasionally pull items weighing up to 100 pounds. Ability to handle small objects and tools.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Ability to read and understand policies, work orders, and equipment manuals. Basic math skills. Ability to effectively and courteously communicate with the general public and other employees. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification:
Must be at least 17 years of age. High school diploma or GED required unless currently enrolled in high school. A review of your credit report is required and must meet City guidelines. Valid Texas driver’s license with driving record that meets City guidelines.
