About This Position
Job Summary
The Supply Chain Business Analyst – Cost & Pricing is responsible for supporting business growth by analyzing, modeling, and quoting costs for new and existing projects. This role works closely with Business Development, Suppliers, and Leadership to create accurate pricing models, maintain cost data, develop business proposals, and identify process improvement opportunities. The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical skills with a solid understanding of business operations, pricing strategies, and financial forecasting to drive informed decision-making and support operational excellence.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with Business Development to analyze, model, and quote costs for new businesses or projects.
- Manage RFQs (Requests for Quotation) with suppliers for pricing on new and existing products or services.
- Maintain and update tiered pricing structures and customer price files for all customer groups.
- Document and manage cost databases, including expenses, cost drivers, assumptions, and analysis models.
- Create new part numbers and update purchase and sales prices in the ERP system.
- Collect and analyze cost data for business activities such as raw material purchases, production, and operations.
- Build and improve pricing models for quoting new business opportunities.
- Prepare regular cost reconciliation reports, tracking trends such as labor rates, supply costs, transportation costs, and inflation rates.
- Calculate total costs and recommend target profit margins for proposals and quotes.
- Conduct market research to suggest pricing strategy adjustments and business model improvements.
- Draft contracts or agreements for new business proposals and collaborate with Business Development to present them to customers.
- Document business requirements, functional specifications, and workflow processes.
- Support new business and project implementations, assisting with change management.
- Analyze and propose improvements to business processes for cost savings and efficiency.
- Use tools and technologies to extract, transform, and analyze data from various sources within the company.
- Interpret complex data sets to deliver actionable insights for leadership and stakeholders.
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Provide detailed reporting on expenses, project costs, profit margins, and forecasts for increased efficiency and profitability.
- Identify business risks, opportunities, and impacts of existing and proposed solutions; assist in developing SOPs and implementing improvements.
- Create and maintain enterprise-wide KPIs, BI reports, dashboards, and leadership presentations.
- Analyze customer scorecards and internal KPIs to identify continuous improvement opportunities across departments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics/Statistics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business; OR a minimum of 5+ years’ experience as a Pricing Analyst, Cost Analyst/Accountant, or similar role
- At least 3+ years of experience in managing RFQ’s and purchase/sales pricing in a B2B wholesale, distribution, or manufacturing company
- At least 3+ years of experience in designing or managing product pricing model
- Strong knowledge in manufacturing, supply chain management, warehousing, logistics (small parcel, ground, ocean, air, multi-modal), and imports (customs/duties/taxes/tariffs)
- Strong experience with BI reporting tools, data analysis, and SQL is highly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge.
- Prior experience with ERP, MRP, and WMS systems is desired.
