At Lewis and Clark Community College, we believe that financial integrity is the foundation of institutional excellence. As an Accountant, you will be a key contributor to our mission by ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial operations. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively across departments, support student services, and help steward public resources with transparency and care.



PAYROLL:

  • Process payroll data from HR, including timesheets, deductions, direct deposits, annuities, and tax filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness to support employee well-being and institutional integrity.
  • Balance payroll inputs and year-end reports (W-2s, SURS, FICA-Medicare, journal entries), reinforcing LC’s commitment to responsible stewardship.
  • Prepare quarterly Federal and State Income Tax, and IDES wage reports, upholding compliance and transparency.

CASH DISBURSEMENTS/ACCOUNTS PAYABLE:

  • Review and process vendor invoices; maintain accurate vendor records and ensure IRS 1099-Misc compliance.
  • Support LC’s mission through timely and ethical financial transactions that sustain community partnerships.

JOURNAL ENTRIES:

  • Prepare and review monthly journal entries to ensure financial clarity and accountability in support of LC’s educational mission.

MONTHLY/FISCAL CLOSING & BUDGET:

  • Reconcile journals with the general ledger, update budgets, and prepare reports for program managers and the Board of Trustees.
  • Assist auditors and track fixed assets, contributing to LC’s culture of continuous improvement and fiscal responsibility.
  • Monitor Auxiliary Fund and Strategic Plan activity, aligning financial oversight with institutional goals.
  • Review, enter, and verify budget data; approve adjustments to ensure resources are aligned with LC’s strategic priorities and student-centered initiatives.

EMPLOYEE BENEFITS:

  • Reconcile and process benefit invoices, distribute accounts, and analyze budget variances to support equitable and efficient benefit administration for LC employees.

GRANTS AND GENERAL ACCOUNTING:

  • Maintain grant records, prepare billings, analyze expenditures, and coordinate audits.
  • Collaborate with grant managers to ensure compliance and effective fiscal planning that supports LC’s community enrichment efforts.

FINANCIAL REPORTING:

  • Compile and submit reports for State, Federal, and Local agencies.
  • Support related organizations with financial operations, including budgeting and investment reconciliation, reinforcing LC’s commitment to service and collaboration.

STUDENT SERVICES:

  • Assist with billing, collections, and federal award administration.
  • Resolve student financial issues and ensure IRS 1098-T compliance, while upholding privacy laws and LC’s dedication to student success.

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field.
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Proficiency with 10-key Touch
  • Data entry accuracy
  • General business knowledge
  • Technology skills, including experience with spreadsheets and word processing
  • Analytical abilities
  • Communication skills

Team Members can expect to be paid a salary of $44,904 alongside an excellent benefits package. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
