Job Title: Materials Handler
Job Summary
The Materials Handler is responsible for the accurate receipt, documentation, and internal distribution of parts and materials. The associate monitors stock levels, processes purchase scan requests, and proactively escalates potential stock-out or overstock situations. This role ensures that production has the necessary supplies by transporting new and reclaimed materials to the floor while maintaining a high level of accuracy in Inventory control functions. This individual must thrive in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable performing both logistical and basic inspection duties, have strong attention to detail, and adherence to quality standards. This is an entry level role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Receiving & Verification: Receive incoming supplies, both raw materials reclaimed and purchased parts from suppliers throughout the day, verifying quantities against inventory control, EKanBan scans, and internal scheduling.
- Inventory Control: Perform accurate data entry into EKanban (or relevant MRP system) via replenishment or request scans, ensuring excellence in all transaction records.
- Internal Distribution: Deliver verified parts to proper locations and transport new/reclaimed materials to production areas for restocking according to replenishment policies.
- Discrepancy Reporting: Communicate any discrepancies found during the receipt or inspection process directly to Purchasing.
- Production Support: Work safely and confidently in the receiving and inspection department; assist in receiving and replenishing transmission parts as required.
- Inventory Management: Manage 3rd bin or overstock materials and ensure all parts are labeled and recorded with the appropriate documentation (e.g., EKanBan barcodes).
- Facility Maintenance: Maintain an organized and clean area, adhering to all instructions and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Requirements & Competencies
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Experience: One year of experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment is preferred; however, we are always willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates a strong work ethic and the ability to learn new systems.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and data entry; ability to learn Axapta/EKanban.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods and regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds. Department PPE (Eye protection, Steel-Toe Shoes required)
