This is a highly collaborative role requiring excellent communication, organization, and initiative.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, consumer-facing environment, possesses considerable applicable experience, and can balance risk while enabling creativity and growth. You must offer a relevant, well-developed skill set, and you must be prepared to hit the ground running.
This role reports to our General Counsel and works closely with legal, marketing, communications, creative, and product teams.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working through ambiguity, meticulous in their attention to detail, self-motivated, resourceful, and capable of independently producing excellent work. As an early member of our team, your contributions will play a critical role in shaping the future of Function Health as we strive to scale from a burgeoning startup to a household brand.
- Support attorneys by managing workload, deadlines, timeframes, and inbound/outbound communications.
- Organize, track, and manage the entire contract lifecycle from intake to execution and storage, ideally using Ironclad CLM or similar platforms.
- Proactively lead drafting and negotiation of agreements based on existing templates and attorney direction.
- Administer legal tech tools (e.g., Ironclad, contract and trademark databases) and liaise with vendors regarding platform functionality and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure timely legal review and feedback.
- Organize and maintain corporate compliance documentation; ensure regulatory filings remain current.
- Assist with IP-related matters including coordination of USPTO trademark filings and renewals.
- Support content and marketing review tracking processes.
- Prepare support materials for litigation, including brief formatting, e-filing, and deposition prep.
- 8+ years of paralegal experience, including 4 to 6+ years of in-house work at a fast-paced company.
- Exceptional project management and time-management skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail with a habit of double-checking work.
- Demonstrated experience organizing contract workflows and supporting multiple attorneys.
- Proficiency in legal operations and contract tools (experience with Ironclad strongly preferred).
- Strong business judgment and a proactive, collaborative approach.
- Ability to prioritize and handle numerous competing demands in a high-volume, fast-paced working environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a clear and concise style.
- Ability to operate autonomously and collaboratively in a fast-moving environment.
- Current paralegal certificate.
- Experience with digital health, life sciences, or consumer technology companies.
- Familiarity with the content review process (marketing, product, etc.).
- Experience with USPTO filings and procedures.
- Litigation support skills including filing and document prep.
- Ruthless Prioritization:
- We don’t let perfect get in the way of progress.
- We move quickly to drive value, not perfection.
- We prioritize what drives impact.
- We never compromise on standards of excellence.

- We gather diverse perspectives to make informed decisions.
- We clear paths for each other and move fast together.
- We communicate clearly and respectfully, rallying around shared goals.
- Radical Ownership, Relentless Execution:
- We don’t just ship—we own outcomes and drive results.
- We act with urgency and precision.
- We anticipate, initiate, and follow through.
- We meet challenges with grit and pragmatism.
- We embrace new tech to deliver better outcomes.
- Mission Over Ego:
- We are ruthlessly aligned to our mission—and leave ego at the door.
- We disagree and commit.
- We don't tolerate politics or withholding information.
- We operate with honesty, transparency, and respect.
- Sustained Integrity in Every Detail:
- We earn trust by obsessing over accuracy, quality, and clarity in everything we do.
