DEPARTMENT: MercerCounty Library System
SALARY: U35:$52,989 - $83,065
SCHEDULE: This is a 35 hour per week position and includes at least oneevening per week and weekend hours in rotation. The Ewing Branch is openSundays through the school year and four of the County observed holidays andcandidates should be available to work some of these.

POSITION OVERVIEW: Librarian3, REference & Adult services
Mercer CountyLibrary System seeks an innovative, self-motived and dynamic team player tolead the Ewing Branch Reference & Adult Services Department with positiveprofessionalism and forward-thinking charisma. This leadership position acts onbehalf of the branch manager when the manager is unavailable, overseescollection development, adult programming and staff supervision, whiledelivering exceptional library experiences to patrons in a vibrant communitysetting.
Key RESPONSIBILITIES:
Public Service
· Provide expert reference and reader's advisory services tolibrary patrons
· Guidepatrons in utilizing print and electronic resources
· Assist with material selection and collectiondevelopment
· Initiate and participate in outreachevents
Collection Management
· Developand maintain a schedule for selection, retention, weeding, and display ofreference and adult collections
· Coordinate branch ordering and evaluate materials forelectronic and print resources
Leadership & Administration
• Supervise, train, andevaluate department staff
• Develop and managedepartment budget
• Prepare staff schedules,reports, and analytical studies
· Participatein library-wide administrative planning and cross-departmental coordination
· Assisting with the payroll andweekly Cash Report

REQUIREMENTS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
· Knowledge of theories,objectives, principles, and techniques of librarianship.
· Knowledge of currentlibrary technology, trends, and innovations.
· Ability to effectivelyuse social media formats and platforms.
· Ability to determinework to be accomplished, issue assignments, and instruct, train, and evaluatesubordinate personnel.
· Ability to plan andimplement library programs and services
· Ability to remainknowledgeable about library services, activities, and facilities and tocoordinate services and activities between departments or with other agencies.
· Ability to keep informedof current events, and popular and local culture.
· Ability to workharmoniously, creatively, and respectfully with others.
· Ability to work withprofessional associations toward the improvement of methods and techniques oflibrary services.
· Ability to give clear,concise, and informative talks before professional and nonprofessional groups.
· Ability to thinkcritically and creatively to solve problems and implement ideas.
· Ability to analyze,interpret, and implement the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of alibrary.
· Ability to train andassist the public with communications, technology literacy, and all informationresources.
· Ability to comprehendthe specific functions and problems of a library and work toward theimprovement of methods and techniques of library services.
· Ability to promote andfoster public access to information and assist patrons in developing technologyliteracy.
· Ability to prepareclear, sound, accurate, and informative statistical, financial, and otherreports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
· Ability to use the library's automatedsystem, online reference resources, various ebook and audiobook platforms, andMicrosoft Office applications such as Word and Excel
· Knowledgeof online databases and digital content delivery
· Knowledge or previous experience with SirsiWorkflows library software and Library Aware desirable.
