About This Position
Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Infection Control supports the hospital-wide infection surveillance, prevention, and control program by following established policies and procedures, assisting in gathering and monitoring data related to infections occurring in the hospital, monitors adherence to established infection prevention and control procedures, and assists in in-service education programs.
- Supports the implementation of all aspects of the infection control program for using CDC, TJC, WHO, APIC, SHEA/IDSA, and OSHA guidelines, and The Rhode Island Health Department rules and regulations.
- Supports the identification of healthcare-associated infections and works towards reduction and prevention of infections.
- Supports system-wide directors and managers in complying with regulatory and accrediting standards related to infection control practices, e.g. hand hygiene, device utilization
- Serves on team(s) in performance improvement projects related to infection control to reduce healthcare-associated infections and other infection control practices.
- Assists with the development, evaluation, and implementation of policies, procedures and services associated with the delivery of infection prevention and control services at CharterCARE facilities.
- Collaborates with nursing education to provide education related to infection prevention and control efforts.
- Acts as a resource and mentor for staff
Education: Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing or related health/science program. BSN preferred. Completion of CDC or similar course certification preferred. Must have a-IPC Certification within one (1) year of hire, and if eligible, must have CIC certification, or completion of CIC Certification within two (2) years of hire.
Licensure: None required, RN or MPH preferred
Experience: One or more years clinical experience in infection control preferred, five or more years preferred.
