Phlebotomist at LifeBridge Health – Baltimore, Maryland

Performs phlebotomy procedures under minimal supervision to obtain venous and capillary blood specimens and other non invasive specimen collection for analysis. Electronically processes phlebotomy test orders and handles specimen labels in order to accurately collect specimens.

Communicates effectively with patients, family members and all patient care and hospital staff. Communicates accidents or injuries immediately to the Lead Tech. Communicates openly and honestly on all issues related to section operations and in a manner that is age appropriate. Performs technical phlebotomy procedures on outpatients from pediatric to geriatric populations. Demonstrates proficiency in venipuncture and capillary blood collection techniques. Maintains a clean and stocked drawing tray and workstation. Ensures that the appropriate volume of specimen is collected for all specimens and documents any unexpected events during collections. Accurately labels each tube and performs additional review of requisitions to eliminate missed tests. Maintains current phlebotomy certification and completes all mandatory training courses.
